Andersen ver Equal-i-zer ver Blue Ox

We just bought a new to us 2017 Lance 1985 with a Factory Hitch weight of 550lbs....... I know that will go up when we load our "Stuff"

I am looking at the Andersen WD, Equal-I-zer, and Blue Ox opinions.

I each individual will be positive with their own WDH and that's fine.

Thanks LeeB

Of the three you mention I have only used the Blue Ox Sway Pro, but have friends with the Equal-izer and from other threads it seems to be a very good WDH and sway eliminator. We have towed our 31’ overall, 6,500 lb travel trailer for 30,000 miles in just about all kinds of scenarios, from flatland to mountains, from Florida to Alaska and back and in some pretty stiff side winds with our Blue Ox and it has worked excellently for us. It was easy to install and set up. I did it myself. It is not overly heavy either. I do get just a little bit of the push pull when some semis blow by me, but no sway. Ever. Very good customer support—one of my bars got just a tiny bit of a permanent bow in it. I called Blue Ox and they sent me two new bars totally free of charge, including the return shipping for the old bars. I for one highly recommend the Blue Ox Sway Pro.

The Blue Ox SwayPro and Equal-I-Zer are proven designs that have very good sway control. The Andersen is the new kid on the block, without enough experience to really determine if it is in the same class as the Blue Ox and Equal-I-Zer.

If I'm buying a new weight-distributing hitch, I'll pay the extra for the Blue Ox or Equal-I-Zer instead of the Andersen.

Two other very good WD hitches at the high end of the affordable and proven class are the Reese Strait-Line Trunnion Bar and the Husky CenterLine HD 31390. I would tow my TT with any of those 4, but I'll wait a couple more years before I'd consider towing with the Andersen.

Equal-I-Zer user here. Lubricated like the manual instructs and it is a quiet hitch that doesn't need to be disconnected to back up.
