a dealer in yuma say a anderson is a great two hitch never heard always used a reese dist hich any input would be great the travel triler is 20 ft about 4000 lbs thanks for any input

Probably Anderson, Reese, Drawtite are all similar. I had a $400 Drawtite that I liked. It did a great job keeping the trailer from bouncing and it seemed to tie the truck and trailer together. When I buy my next trailer I will use a Drawtite.

thanks i think i have decided to not get a anderson hitch to old to learn a new system....now to try and get a good deal on a 18to 20 ft small trl...thanks for looking jim

Have an Andersen, easy to adjust. Just tighten 2 nuts.
Works well .

Guy I work with had a old school bar style hitch , now runs a andersen. nothing but good comments on the andersen compared to old school. rides better ,zero sway , loads the whole truck not just the back.

I used to use an Andersen but now use a more traditional WDH. IMO, with a heavier trailer, it just doesn't transfer enough weight to the front axle. Also, I was not comfortable with the crazy stresses put on the trailer frame and coupler.

Without using lots of specialized measurement equipment can't really prove this but IMO the forces put on the TT frame is less of a bending force and more linear into the coupler than any type of torsion spring bar that essentially pushes straight down on the TT frame. You likely observed how the ball developed a distinct wear mark on the back side. That is caused by the chains pulling the TT coupler hard against that surface. As the Andersen brackets tend to set themselves at an angle the torque on the TT frame is actually distributed over a larger surface area than a typical spring bar.
