Anderson ultimate with ram 3500srwshort bed

I've been trying to research this topic and haven't really found a straight forward answer. Looking at a 2014 ram 3500 short bed SRW. Doesn't have the factory puck system but does have a BW turnover ball. My 5th wheel is 102in wide. I hear you can offset the Anderson by 9in. I can't think of a time I've gotten the trailer to a 90 degree turn but is this set up going to be a problem with regular maneuvering?

shortbed pickups usually need a slider hitch to be able to jacknife the trailer. If you're talking about offsetting the Anderson to the rear of the axle, then you'd have to start worrying about the pin box contacting the tailgate. You may even have to start worrying about sway if it goes back too far to the rear of the axle.

Sounds like a wide trailer. Is it heavy?

Well I've been seeing the discussion about contacting the tailgate but there is a solution for that apparently. Trailer GVWR is 15,100. Now we full timed for 2 years and loaded up we are at14,800. I currently have a dually. Going to just be doing local stuff for a while and don't need the dually for everyday driving. Unloaded trailer weighs 12,100. Once we get all the clothes out, the WD, and all toys for my daughter I'm betting were at 13,500. The 3500 SRW has a door payload sticker at 3900lbs. Tow rating of 17,300. Not worried about enough truck, just enough bed length.

I have an Andersen ultimate, rail version with a standard bed. I have the hitch closest to the tailgate and the adapter mounted forward of the pin. Ive gotten close to a 90 and could probably do a 90 with my Reflections 337.
I have no trouble with sway and the only way I can tell if a semi is passing is if I see him coming passed me.
If you can temporarily mount the hitch and measure from the center of the ball to the orner of the cab compare that number from the pin to the cab height corner of the camper, it should give you a pretty good estimate.

Fvstringpicker is that a Ram SB or the Ford? Why Ram went with the 6'4" bed I'll never know.

Sorry, its a GMC. Could be a variance between the bed/axle placement. I was mistaken saying the adapter was mounted forward of the pin. It actually mounted behind the pin. Since the hitch is closest to the tailgate, the ball is roughly 2 inches behind the axle.
I looped a string around the pin and marked it at the extreme corner of my camper (hanging a plumb bob from that position)
I had the hitch mounted, place the loop around the ball and pulled it toward the cab, estimating where that extreme corner will be in respect to the cab at different degrees of jack.

I think GMC is 6'6" but 2 in shouldn't be that different. Neighbor next to us has an Anderson in his Ford SB which is 6'9" I believe. I think I'll ask if I can borrow the hitch and bring it to the car lot and take the measurements as you did.

If you loop the string around the pin, add an inch to simulate the center of the pin.

I would not consider an Anderson hitch after the recent news that the owners of the company have been charged with vandalism on BLM land.

Apparently the posted Facebook pictures of themselves scratching their initials and dates on a natural arch near MOAB.

That behavior is unacceptable, and could lead to land closures eventually, affecting us all.

I will not support irresp people with my dollars. There are plenty of other products that will do the job.

Personally, I think their hitch design is cheezy as heck anyway. The vandalism would make me pause though... if I was considering them as an option.

Wow! Thanks for the link. Hard to believe someone in his position would do something so stupid.

As if defacing parks wasn't enough. The whole part about having his children switch his truck plates disgust me just as much if not more.

I just bought a Anderson Hitch 2 weeks ago and love it. But I will never spend another dime with that company.
