Any suggestions on brake upgrades for a 2001 GMC Yukon XL SLT?

After renting a 2017 Ford F250 Super duty diesel to tow home my 2004 Gulfstream TT 32' I realized my Yukons brakes may be a little inadequate, I don't want to rely on the TT brakes more than nesassary, basically I want the Yukon to be able to safely stop my TT from 50 mph without the trailer brakes and without over heating, I don't plan on not using the trailer brakes properly I just want to make sure if something goes wrong with the controller or TT brakes I still have the safe ability to stop, my Yukons brakes are in good working order but seem under powered for the task, I was thinking better rotors drilled and or slotted, and better pads it calls for ceramic OEM I see police grade brake systems I can buy , any ideas on how to improve the braking performance without replacing everything ( eg: bigger rotors, new calipers) I was hoping to use stock sized parts just better materials. Thanks

Vehicle brakes are only rated to stop the GVWR of the basic vehicle, not the GCVWR.
You can pretty easily change pads that would give better performance and longer life, but still will probably not do what you want. You'd need bigger rotors, bigger calipers, better pads, etc.

You might try Wilwood <http://www.wilwood.com/>. They have quite a few upgrades.

I recently changed out my power steering pump and steering gearbox--2003 F250 7.3 diesel with 134K miles.

Diesels don't have any vacuum to provide boost power brakes. They (and many gas vehicles) use a Bendix Hydroboost system that's powered by the power steering pump.

i'm amazed how much better my brake system feels just by changing the ATF used in my power steering and bleeding out the air bubbles through the Hydroboost system. It stops like the truck is new.

For anyone looking for improved stopping, I suggest Hawk LTS brake pads--for general RV usage.

These look nice but for my vehicle the kits available would cost about$4000.00 to swap out the caliper's, pads, and rotors, if my Yukon wasn't a 2001 I might do this but it's almost what it's worth to use wilwoods brakes going from OEM 13" brakes to these monsters Shure would stop the Yukon faster lol
