Anyone know of a car that can tow 2,000lbs?
I am looking for a car no older than 5 years old to tow a big Waverunner PWC and a U-Haul trailer.
I know there are dozens of SUV's that can do that but are there cars that can do it? It will need to ne able to accept a hitch onto the unibody frame.

Equinox and Explorers are technically SUVs but not that many plain old sedans on the market any more. I would look for something that has at least a 3500 pound tow rating to tow 2000 pounds regularly.

I googled 'Cars that can tow 2,000lbs.' There were none that came up that I would buy like Volvo, BMW and MB's. The one car that I kinda like would be a Subaru Outback.
I might end up with a cross over SUV.
The last car I used to tow a small boat was a 1987 Mercury Cougar XR7 V8. Was just hoping to find more cars that can tow a 1,200lb PWC/trailer and a when needed, tow a U-Haul trailer.
So for a pure car the Subaru Outback, or for a crossover there are dozens of choices.
I really do not want to tow a PWC with my dually truck but can if needed.

I'd assume the Chevy impala or Lincoln town car would be able to tow 2k.

Chevy Impala is just 1,000 lbs but you are right. Lincoln Town Car is 2,000 lbs. Good mention. I think I could get use to driving and rinding in a Lincoln

Not acceptable. Don't you read Consumer Reports? Plus Jeep has SUVs such as the Grand Cherokee, but they don't make "cars".

Too late for a new one. No longer produced. Replaced by the Continental. The 2017 RV and trailer towing Guide shows the Continenal (and the MKZ sedan) have a tow rating of 1,000 pounds when equipped with an aftermarket receiver hitch (Ford doesn't offer a tow pkg or receiver hitch on these cars).
The new crossover Explorer with FWD or 4x4 has a max tow rating of 5,000 pounds when "properly equipped" for towing.

Sorry. I haven’t spec'd out a Dodge Charger in several years but I know the 2006 era models ( along with Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum) had a tow package as an option with I believe it was 3500 lb towing capacity with the Hemi.

I would take the easy approach and research online by manufacturer and look for the specifications of the sedans. Usually not too hard to find.
My daughter tows a small KZ trailer with a 4 door Jeep. She probably has 15-20K towing miles on it.

More info. I have had a trailer hitch on all my vehicles since, yikes 1978. I just like the idea, if needed I can tow 2,000 lbs. I will be towing a PWC for sure and very likely a U-Haul trailer. Worse case, towimg the U-Haul trailer from north Florida to Minn.
For what I want to tow I realized there are dozens of very nice crossover vehicles.
A used older town car is something I will take a look at.
If I start looking at crossovers and SUV my mind might explode with all the options. If not a car...might open up and look at all the mini-trucks. The Honda Ridgeline, the Taco, the Frontier, the Colorado....or Subaru Outback, yep, my mind might explode.

Forgot to mention - Jeep is off the table. Just too many Consumer Reports black and half black circles.
