Anyone pulling a 5th Wheel on a short (82") bed 3/4 or 1 Ton Chevy using Pucks?

The pucks are pretty well centered over the axle. I am concerned that the corner of the camper would get really close to the cab without being able to slide the hitch.

Thanks

I did, with a 2012 Ford F350 and a 2018 Ford F350. 40' Montana 5er. Never a problem.
Could I have hit the back of the cab? Yep. Did I? Nope.
At that angle you aren't pulling the trailer you're dragging it sideways. Never a need for it. My 2012 was the best 5th wheel ride I'd ever driven.

Thanks, I also just learned they have sliders that use the pucks, so I can go that route to be safe.

What 5th wheel are you looking at?

20 years ago, I did the same as Mark. I had a 3/4t Chevy 2500HD crew cab with a 6ft bed & a 30ft Cougar that had an extended pin box. Same as Mark, could I have hit the cab?=Yep, but I never did. Never put myself in the situation where I'd have had to turn that hard.

The hitch you linked is for a Ram, and likely heavier than the RVK3770 for your 22 GM. Has the same head and operation though.

B&W hitches are a great choice, and very good quality for the cost!

If you have a 8.5 foot wide FW, a slider may be the right choice. If only 8' wide a slider is not needed with a GM truck. They already have the longest distance of the 3 truck brands, when measuring from axle center to back of cab. Also, the B&W standard (non-sliding) hitches have several inches of ahead/back adjustment.

Not hitch, but actual 5th wheel trailer.

I just grabbed the first link I saw.

Good to know, thanks.

The family is leaning toward a Forest River Cardinal 37Best but we aren't in a hurry.

My truck is not a Chevy short bed, but it is a Dodge Mega cab with a short bed. The box dimension inside is from the inside wall to the inside wall of the tailgate is 60.6 inches. But what everyone needs to understand is that the WH base is more important than the box dimension for towing. My WH base for my year of truck (2008) is the same as a Quad Cab Long Bed truck. The WB for both trucks 160.5". In fact, the Regular Cab Long Box has a shorter WB which is 140'5"

I also use a Demco Hijacker Autoslider hitch 18K with no capture plate.

I am pulling a Cedar Creek 34RL 5th wheel with my Mega Cab truck.

Just saying.
