Anyone towing with a Nissan NV3500?

I've got a family of 6 and I am looking for a bunkhouse TT. I've very carefully looked at weights and tow ratings, so I'm comfortable with that and don't need this to turn into a discussion of weights. I already have the van, and I just want to hear about the experiences of those that have already towed with it. I have a passenger SL, which comes with the towing package. I plan on taking out the rearmost four seats to help offset the weight of family and the bit of gear we'll have in the van.

I'm looking to find out how folks have fared with it. Does it tow well?

Need anything extra for transmission cooling, braking, etc?

Do you use the transmission on downslopes for slight slowing assist, or does that overheat it?

Where did you install the brake controller? It's a pretty flat vertical dash and I'm not sure if the one slot between the radio and the AC control would work.

Anything else I need to know about it?

Some friends of ours just purchased the same vehicle and a new ORV Timer Ridge bunkhouse. I'll see what they say and report back.

From what I understand it's essentially a 1 ton right? Tow rating is around 8700 lbs from what I gather.

Long wheelbase so that helps.

Here's a few comments on the NV3500, I'd expect a more positive response on this board than what you may have experienced elsewhere.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm not surprised there's not too many towing with these yet, there aren't all that many on the road, although I've been seeing more and more lately.

The NV3500 is a one ton van with a wheelbase about the same as an extended cab F350, so it has some good capability for a decent size trailer.
