Avoid Nexen Tires - Shame on Dodge

...and shame on me for not negotiating for better tires when I bought my truck. Today I had to replace my Nexen tires with 18,000 miles on them. 2 of the tires had belts that shifted. I was driving on the freeway and started getting a strong vibration. Into the dealer the next day only to be told my 2 front tires were shot. These pieces of junk came with the truck when I bought it.

I opted to go with the LTX MS/2 Michelins as a replacement. The ride on the new tires is night and day better than I ever had on the Nexens. The tire place said that they see many worn out Nexens at 17,000 to 24,000.

Save yourself some grief and avoid these pieces of junk

I think I am hooked too. But...I had a hard time getting them. I had to have them shipped from MN to AZ. 3 tire dealers in PHX area could not put their hands on 6. 1 here and there, but not 6. Not sure if they stopped production or if they are selling so many that they are just sold out

Avoid Nexen Tires - Shame on Dodge

Same thing just happened to one of my fronts. Nexen dealer network nearly non existent. Dealer no help. 18k miles...tire guy said rears are wearing faster than fronts and won't last to 30k mi.

Shame on RAM

I can say the same for Ford and GM. I thought Ram came with Firestone? Nexen makes many tires: rodian, nfera, etc. Which ones were bad for you?

Ahh, nope our GM came with the LTX MS/2 Michelins, 20K mi. still look & ride like new, pleasantly surprised.
Sorry to here Ram is doing that, they'll learn.

Wow.... i got really lucky then... my stock Nexens got changed out at 43,000... had another 10k in them atleast. Big issue was wear on the outside edge of the front due to Rams poor alignment spec

Any new vehicle I purchase gets run to either to 30K miles, serious tire damage or excess wear. Whatever they were, I replace them with Toyo, since they're half the price of Michelin.

Currently my Kia Sedona has 66,000 miles on the first replacement Toyos and they look good for maybe another 30K. We've used Toyos on all our vehicles for the last 30 years or more.

thanks for letting us know. somewhat surprised, 'cause Nexen [S.Korea] has good repute in Asia. seems the Rodians performed for you, while they lasted, but did not meet your expectations for life-span. that's ok with me, as I place life-span second to performance. performance is a safety issue for me. I can tell many stories about poor safety from oem tires on many vehicles. another person likes Toyo: I have had these and can say they are good. in fact, I have owned most of the brands, spanning +40 years. the one brand that has consistently been tops for performance and quality is Michelin. true, they cost more, but they have given me more. to each his own.

Hate to sideline but I have this problem now at 18k. How did you deal with it?

Those Nexens were at least 3 yrs old (2014 RAM)

Did you check the MFG. Date Code on those new Michelins?

I have run Michelins (AT2 LTX) since my truck was about 8 mos old.
Didn't care for OEM tires performance (Highway thread----Firestones)
Get roughly 60K on a set before I change them out---not because they are worn out /issues etc. Just because I am anal about tires especially when towing like we did (FT for 7 yrs.)

Although Michelins have performed well for me I am going to give Cooper Discoverer a shot next time new shoes are needed.
Ran Cooper tires for many years and was always pleased.
