In case you haven't seen this, the B&W Companion has been redesigned and is rated for 20k now and some other nice features.

This new model, RVK3500, is starting to hit the marketplace as distributors work through their inventory of model RVK3000.

Higher Weight Rating 20k instead of 18k. Truck ratings are going up. Bigger, heavier fifth-wheel trailers with more slide-outs and space for toys are gaining in popularity. This new Companion is stout, and 33 pounds heavier than the 3000 model.

More Height Adjustment 14.75” to 16.75” was the height adjustment with the Companion 3000. 16.25" to 18.25” is now the adjustment with the Companion 3500.

No More U-Bolts The post that attaches the Companion through a single point to the mounting system below the bed, now uses bolts instead of U-bolts making it more user-friendly.

Adjustable Foot Pads Adjustable plastic feet fill in the bed recesses, allowing the Companion to be used in more applications.

New Post Allows for Forward to Aft Adjustment Now the post can be mounted in two different towing positions relative to the truck axle. This will allow it to be used in more applications, including the 2013 Ram 3500 pickups. In addition, a shorter post (RVP3521) is available for use with the Toyota GNRK1257 and Dodge GNRK1309.

I've just modified the 'old' design Companion with a purchase of their new 20K base to fit the 2011 up Ford installed pucks. I have to say that this has to be the easiest hitch ever to install or remove from a Ford bed. With the long bed, I do have to pull my particular 5er with the arms in the rearward position for bumper to trailer clearance - this accomplished by doing a 180 with the base and then installing the head unit in the correct orientation.

I argured with them about 4 years ago to get a Companion with more than 18K rating--at the factory. There was not much in the way of comments about when or why not.
Guess they have now decided to get with the competition or get left behind.
Wore out my first 18K unit, replaced it with new one--it is doing fine so far.
They make a great hitch--very nice to see they are upgrading the line.
