Ball mount has a lot play inside hitch receiver.

With the pin installed, I can move it right-left and up-down a good bit. I measured the outside and it's about 2.02 inches square. I towed an empty dolly for 30 miles and the noises it made were pretty bad. When I put a car on the dolly and towed, most of that noise stopped except on bumps and expansion joints. Anything to worry about or check?

You can buy a little clamp device that eliminates a lot of the movement. I'll look for an example of it.

I have 2 different styles of those but on this vehicle there isn't room to attach them because the bumper cover is too close.

Easy way: go to Amazon and buy a hitch clamp, which costs like $15.

Cheap way: wrap the shank with electric tape until it fits snag. This is what I always do before I get my cheap a$$ a clamp.

I use large thin washers on top or sides then electrical tape them down.

Don't worry about it, its just noise.

Its moving when loaded just not rattling when it does.

Just run a couple thin beads with a welder on the 2x2 part of the hitch that slides in. Then grind them to fit the dimensions. Worked for all my stingers so far.

The receiver on my 2020 F250 is sloppier than heck, its the 2.5" and I need the reducer sleeve for everything but my WDH.
Even with the sleeve I get more play than I care for. I will likely get a big chunk of heavy wall square tube and mill it for a good snug fit and roll with that.
You have to have a little play to deal with dirt and such that may get in there but geez...
