I thought the song was "all my exes live in texas". Just kidding, couldn't resist.

You’re the one who moved to the left lane.

Learn how to drive.

You did not move into the left lane by choice. But staying in the left lane IS your choice. When I am forced over into the left lane I will do whatever is safe for me to get back in the right lane. Truck drivers are working. I am retired. I try real hard to not impede the progress of a truck. Always with my safety in mind.

It doesn't have anything to do with who's working or not, or even who's in a hurry or not. When you impede the flow of traffic it causes other drivers to drive in an unsafe manor. Right or wrong, it's just human nature! Speed up and move over.

And if you want to see some real congestion on the highway's just wait until all semi's are governed at 65mph. It's going to be a real nightmare, and it's coming!

You are part of the problem. You weren’t “forced “ into the left lane, you moved there by choice. You could have just as easily slowed down a little.
Using your logic, I’m going 75 in the left lane so why should I slow down so as not to run over your idiotic a**?

Depends on the state..some do some do not.

I'm still only a "four wheeler" but having been married to a "transportation specialist" from 90 to 95, I can well attest to how they have changed!
They are downright rude and very careless these days. I watch them roll right up on cars' bumpers and stay a HALF of a car length behind them!!! Talk about a recipe for disaster!! They give you about 2 blinks before cutting you off to pass a slower trucker on the slightest incline until I am down to as little as 55 all because the apparently didn't have the passing power after all and the truck they are attempting to pass doesn't back off even a smidge!!
Gone are the days when you could give them your lights to okay their moving over and even worse are how they rarely "thank you" flash all their tail and rear lighting. I've come to literally hate them on the road.
They should have built them their own couple of lanes long long ago like they did in some state I went thru coming back from north eastern Ohio on a weekend motorcycle trip I went on and somehow accidentally ended up IN their specially made section, LOL
I recently asked my ex why they are such okoles and he said it's because so many of them are middle easterners nowadays. Whatever that has to do with it.........

It's not illegal. Shoulders are not just designed for emergency stopping. They are designed for vehicles which would otherwise be a hazard to the normal flow of traffic (i.e. stopped, or partially incapacitated vehicles).
Newer vehicles have a "limp mode" which greatly decreases their driveability.
Would you want a hampered vehicle driving only 20 mph in the same lane where you're doing 60, 70 or 75 mph? That is a recipe for disaster.
Don't be afraid to use the shoulder folks.

Glad I'm retired, computers, cameras, sensors in steering wheels etc etc it's not the job it used to be.

It does vary by state. If one is limping around down the shoulder and one of the state or local LEO's comes along, there might be some disagreement on how long or far you can do that. More than likely, the LEO will explain that is why there is such a thing as a tow recovery truck. Many states put out specific signs regarding shoulder use limitations, along with fine amounts imposed for improper shoulder use.

I was leaving location on day in Louisiana. I pulled out on the highway behind another pickup truck who turned on his left blinker and stopped to wait for a hole in traffic. Thinking nothing of it, I eased on by him on the shoulder.

Imagine my surprise when the red and blues popped up in my rear view.

"Howdy officer, how may I help you?"

"Do you have any idea while I pulled you over, son?" (Son? Really?)

"No sir..." (I honestly didn't)

"You drove on the shoulder" (the trailing dummy was strongly implied by his tone)

"Well that's how we do it in Texas"

"Son" (there's that son thing again) "This ain't Texas. License and insurance please"

Sigh.

No ticket, fortunately, but still...

Laws vary. Along with the shoulder thing, left lane usage can vary as well. Left lane is for passing only in a lot of places so staying camped out over there is, in fact, illegal weather you're there by choice or not. I do wish they'd enforce it more thoroughly: impeding the flow of traffic causes more issue on the road than a guy doing 7 over.

Get out of the way and let the hotshots around to go be some one else's problem.
