Bumper pull, sway, control, avoid

A very good illustration for newbies.

Sway can occur any for any rig. Newbies, in particular, do not understand the importance of having a suitably heavy TV, so we see perpetual posts such as, is my truck enough?

To bring sway under control, the lesson is to apply the trailer brakes only. This underscores the importance of having a trailer brake controller in ALL tow vehicles. IMHO, this should be a vehicle licensing endorsement issue.

My uncle taught me the function and results of applying trailer brakes while maintaining speed to stop trailer sway and pull the rig back into a straight line back in the 1950's.
The technique also works when being passed by 18-wheelers to keep your rig straight.

That technique got lost somewhere, I'm glad you posted about trailer sway and how to correct sway before it gets out of control.
