Canadian Truck - US 5th Wheel

Hello

I am a Canadian with a Canadian registered truck. My girlfriend who is American owns a US registered 5th Wheel. Can I cross into Canada with her trailer, if she is with me? We would only be going camping for several weeks in Canada and would return to the US with the trailer.

Any opinions would be appreciated if this is feasible of whether Canadian Customs would have a problem.

I'm no expert on this but as long as there is registration for both vehicles I don't see why not. But....I think it would be best if you call customs and ask them.

If you each have your registration for your units they won't bother you, they might look twice at different plates on the truck and trailor but the reg papers will wotk

As long as you have proper documentation they won't care. They may have a few extra questions though.

Best bet, call the CBSA and verify it all.

While I am sure they monitor all license plates as they go thru, it isn't obvious--no one walking around and looking, unless you have piqued their interest some other way. Doubt you are going to have a problem if all paperwork is with you.

I would be concerned that they will suspect you of trying to import an RV by the backdoor. Paperwork is a must, but I would be prepared for a tricky discussion too. It's an unusual situation that will immediately catch their eye. This is the sort of thing that people try with cars all the time.

We called both Canada and US customs and if we are both in the truck with proper paperwork showing ownership, then as everyone suggested...shouldn't be a problem.

Not an expert - but agree with everyone that says as long as you have all the registrations you will find. You can not be the only person doing this...I hope.

There's camping in Canada? Sorry, couldn't resist. We were camping in Montana last August and 3/4 of the campers had Alberta plates.

Come east and most of the good camping is in Canada if you want to get away from the crowd. RV'ing might be a different story.
