Did it say the re-man warranty was only good in the US?

They canceled ALL warranties? Wow!

Sounds like a class action suit for fraudulent business practices.

Good that the shop is stepping up to the plate. I've never read your comments as RAM bashing, just aimed at the people who re-manufacture these transmissions.

Cheers from south of the border...BJ

Dodge didn't sell him the trans, the truck is long past warranty. Likely that Dodge cancelled warranty due to gray market trans being sold.

Not sure why it would be gray market given the amount of auto's and parts going back and forth every day.

FWIW I think the dealers and maybe manufacturers really hate manual transmissions these days. I know I had a heck of a time getting my 2008 Ranger in manual. Two dealers would not even look for one for me.

Yours is a nv5600 not a g5600. The nv is a much better trans IMHO. I have an 01 dually with the nv5600 and it just turned 527,000 miles and still shifts like butter. I believe they went to the g5600 in 03. It had some oiling problems, if I remember correct the cure was to over fill it with 1 extra quart of oil.

This tranny was Mopar Powertrain reman.

If you go into a tranny shop and they ask you if you want a "new" tranny or a rebuilt, it's from guys like High Gear is where they would buy it. Then charge you a fair mark up. It's certainly worth while to buy your own parts. He likes selling Mopar, with all the warranty headaches from Hot Shot trucking.

You are probably right,. Don't let those Canucks get a deal.

I got a message on the answering machine Friday, see what's next .

Jake, my guess is Mercedes sold Chryslers share in New Venture, then sourced the G-56 from Mercedes Brazil. That cuts down unit costs.

I'm reading two quarts overfill now.

I would go to Turbo Diesel Register.com and find the facts on why the different transmission were offered in various years of Dodge/Ram trucks before you start more internet rumors.

I would also like to see the warranty policy and were it states that you can have the transmission service in either Canada or the US. They usually state one country or the other not both do to rules and regulations along with policy value in the warranty issuing country such as what will be the reimbursement cost.

New Venture is the old New Process gear division. Magna, the parts supplier, now owns it. My '74 W-200 had New Process tranny and transfer case. New Process was Chrysler, but sold parts to the industry.

The G-56 is a Mercedes transmission built in Germany and Brazil. It was said to be lighter and have a higher torque rating.

The Warranty clearly states those three countries, but not Mexico.

Jim, rather than defend your and my choice of truck, do some research on New Venture ownership, Daimler ownership of Chrysler, and Daimler-Benz specs on the G-56.

Should have a replacement in route by now. Seller has had plenty of time to source another. Are you going to have it installed in US this time?
