Cloth vs Vinyl
About to pull the trigger on 2017 F250 ..... XL or STX
XL has everything I need ..... But has vinyl seats (never had)
STX has everything I need plus 5th wheel prep, sliding rear window (and "cooler" radio, no biggie tho).... And has carpet and cloth seats.
Fan of the vinyl floor .... Weathertech mats not needed!!!!
STX would be $30/m more ...... Is $30 worth it to get cloth vs vinyl !?? I really don't need radio - like the rear slider since current f150 has 1 (that sometimes doesn't work) and 5th wheel may or may not become a reality (#4kids)!!
What r ur thoughts!?? Vinyl or cloth --
*** truck would become daily driver in a few years when f150 bites it... Teacher by day, lawn care by night!! #8000lb TT

I had a 1988 Chevy Silverado with cloth seats and I have a 1998 Yukon with the fake leather seats.
The seats in the 88 Silverado were still in good shape when it was stolen last September, the seats in the 98 Yukon are splitting and are now covered with cloth seat covers.
The Silverado I purchased in 1989 used, the Yukon I purchased new.
So I say cloth is better.

I've had 2 vehicles with vinyl. Only advantage was cleaning. In warm or cold weather much prefer cloth. In both vehicles I found I put seat covers over them for comfort.

Cloth seats & vinyl flooring =cats meow
I still have a 97 silverado bought it new,I clean cloth seat once in a while with green machine steam cleaner, looks new still. Came with light gray carpet, was showing it's age, just replaced it last year. If you don't like the carpet, you can order aftermarket vinyl floor for about $150.00 or less, and change it out.

When I was in college I had a Ranger with vinyl floors and seats and couldn't stand it, stuff and people always sliding all over.
But it's your call. Keep in mind that a vinyl floor will still some kind of floor mat or water and slop just gets all over.
And congrats on finding a vehicle that fits your needs!

Cloth seat covers are much preferred over vinyl. Vinyl is sweaty in summer and icy in winter. But cloth seats are available as a $315 option with XL trim for 40/20/40 Split Bench Seats. Or 40/console/40 cloth bucket seats are available for more money.
I ordered a new 1999.5 F-250 diesel with cloth seats. I kept that pickup for 10 years and 200,000 miles and the cloth seats were still presentable when I sold it.
To get the most truck for the money, you need to order the truck with just exactly the options you want and are willing to pay for. If I couldn't afford an XLT, then I'd order XL trim with a few of the options that make it almost an XLT but for a lot less money: cloth seats, power package, and cruise control. Plus I'd order the integrated trailer brake controller. Nothing else.
