Even then it was a small percentage.

I don't think anyone will ever get the exact percentages, even the authorities. Emissions regulations are in place and are federally mandated. Even if your area does NOT test emissions it is illegal to tamper, modify and even tune a vehicle without having the EPA and/or CARB EO number.
Reading through these forums you'd think almost all of the modern diesels are deleted.

What is your fuel mileage now hand calculated not from the Lie-o-display?
My fuel mileage pulling my 34RL Cedar Creek has ranged from a low of 8.3MPG (40MPH head wind) to a high of 13.2MPG towing on flat land.

To clarify, I have owned two shops in almost 40 years , and was a line tech the previous 10 , and have never allowed disabling emissions. I was saying in a county without testing people would feel less likely to get caught. Probably most of these trucks are not rolling into general repair shops like mine anyway. Either DIYers or specialty diesel performance shops are doing the work.

Plus what problems does ripping the pollution equipment off? Check engine lights?
Any diesel truck rolling coal is like someone that smokes. In 2020 it is a disgusting behavior.

Ya, it causes check engine lights and tuners cant turn the light off anymore either.
The i6 is no more simple than a v8. That argument drives me nuts as i find it utterly ridiculous.

We know your attitude to Ram and Cummins. Yes they are easier to work on 1/3 fewer parts, access is easier. Yes the emission system is as complicated, but easier to access also.
I think that many forget that gas engines also have emissions systems, a little less complicated than diesel, in addition gas has an ignition system, which diesels don't have.

Nothings easier to access on the cummins. Its a pain just to change a battery.
