This.
The Goosebox is designed in such a way that the frame is not introduced to any added stress that a traditional pinbox does not put on it.
A Gooseneck adapter is completely different in that the adapter sticks about 2 ft directly down from the pin box with no gusseting. When pulling with it there is a horizontal torque applied to that adapter that cause it to flex, and that flex is transferred to the trailer frame. This torque can cause the frame to twist beyond its limits and can cause the welds on the frame to crack. Furthermore, the extra torque can cause the walls to crack and in some instances cause the windows to pop out of the wall.
If you've ever studied the frame of a GN trailer, there are some serious gussets welded to the neck of the trailer that are not present on the 5er, because the pinbox takes the torque.
A Goosebox acts exactly as a standard pinbox except that the hitch receptacle is built into the box instead of the hitch.
The Andersen hitch is a more acceptable option over an adapter (but not Lippert approved yet) and works similarly to a 5er hitch because it moves the position of the ball upwards and reduces the length of the adapter between the hitch and the frame. That added length is what kills a 5er frame. The longer the adapter, the more torque is applied.
