Dually conversion

Is it possible, common or safe to add 2 tires to a 3/4 ton or 1 ton pickup truck by using wheel spacers to make it a dually?

Depending on the truck brand , there can be differences in the differential housing and rear hub between SRW and DRW .
Then there's fender and spring clearance .
The conversion will not change payload of the truck .
Money would be better spent , upgrading to a dually .

Adding extra wheels doesn't give it higher capacities. Dually's have different axles, housings, springs ......

You cannot make a dump truck out of a pick-up. (Well maybe a micro dump truck)

You have to swap the rear axle and wheels on a 1 ton for it to begin to be the same

If you want stability you could change the bed and rear axle on a srw 1 ton. Easiest way is a flatbed and used rear axle. If you don’t want to change the front axle look into “super duallys”. It’s basically a srw on the front and drw on the back. If you’re a mechanic it’s not a difficult swap at all. Wheels and a bed are the hardest things to figure out

some of the older trucks a company makes fender add on and offset wheels but nothing new. I think some place around 2010 is when they stop on newer trucks.

Using a dually wheel adapter and buying a "take off" dually bed off craigslist is very do-able. Best of luck and post pictures.
