Dually Valve Stems

My 2023 RAM 3500 dually has metal valve stems on all wheels except the real inside dually, and it has a flexible rubber valve stem; that is difficult to get to in order to add air.
My inner and outer dually wheels are matched so that both valve stems share the same hole in the wheel. I asked my local tire shop and the selling dealer about getting long metal valve stems for the inner wheel and neither one really recommended it.
Is anyone using a long metal valve stem or extension so that you can use it easily? If so, what are you using?
Thanks,

Don't use extensions, get Borg steel stems from https://yourtireshopsupply.com/. If you're not sure which set, call them and they'll set you up.

Two years ago, I put Crossfire Dual Tire Equalizers on my motorhome. They work great.

Replace the flexible rubber valve stem with a metal valve stem for better support and mitigate the risk of rubber valve stem failure. I installed 2" metal stem extensions on the factory-installed metal valve stems and found I could easily inflate the inner tire with my Viair long air compressor chuck.

My 2021 GMC Denali dually came with metal valve stems. I brought new tires and the idiot that changed the tires didn’t match up the holes so I could put air in the inside tires. I use a 5 inch pressure gauge to put in air

Crossfire - Dual Dynamics
I considered these but I need my tire pressure sensors. Chuck

My tire pressure sensors go on the valve on the crossfire. Big difference is I only need 2 (instead of 4).

I was under the impression that the Crossfire would shut down if there was a leek. How would this work with a tpms work with that? Chuck

Back to the OP's situtation...
Most people don't know that valve stems and wheels have pressure ratings just like tires do. I'd think on your truck there should be metal valve stems on all wheels.

There is a check valve between the two tires for the purpose of preventing one blow out from causing the good tire to go flat. The check valve does not normally affect air movement between tires. There is a valve on the crossfire monitor that can be used to add air to both tires. The tire pressure monitor fits on that valve, and works just the same as it would on a single tire.

Besides making it easier to air up dually, the Crossfire monitor also allows you to see at a glance if the rear tires are low on air.

When we towed heavy I never trusted the dually extenders.

I don't like extenders and have had issues with them in the past. I've swapped to rubber stems on my alloy wheels (front and outer rears) to eliminate corrosion due to the dissimilar metals.

For my inner rears, I've removed my hubcaps permanently and use a double sided chuck.

2 cents,
Dave

From the OP

Thanks everyone. I think I will just continue using my long double sided air chuck for now. I'll think about getting new metal valve stems the next time I have my wheels off for anything. It would be a good bit easier if I could reach all the valve stems easily.
Thanks,

I've been using this set-up for 3+ years with no issues or leaks. With the TPMS mounted on the hub, it makes inflating a breeze. Metal valve stems for sure.
Yellow arrow is the outer stem and the Blue arrow is the inner stem.
