Duramax diesel Mpg
Looking at a 2022 GMC 2500 Diesel Denali. What kind of MPG can I expect with it towing and not towing/empty?

I think all the trucks are very similar at 20/21mpg solo and 11/12 mpg towing.
The new trucks are really nice - enjoy.

Speed, weight, terrain, and surface area of trailer will swing your MPG dramatically. Wind also I should add. 2020 GMC dually last big trip this summer over 4,800 miles trip computer average 8.7 MPG. Worst tank was 6.7 and best tank was 11.3. I’m towing 19,000 lbs, 41’ and I drive with the flow of traffic in urban areas and 72-74 out in the wide open.
Tows like a dream but drinks fuel and DEF. I’m still happy as my old Newmar 43’ DP didn’t like going over 68 MPH and I never saw over 7.5 MPG.

Traveling with what's in my sig, I get the following:
Towing: 9-ish mpg average.
Not towing: 16-ish mpg average, mostly highway. When an active regen event occurs, you'll think you have a fuel leak when you see the mpg reading on the dash takes a dive.

I have only had mine for a short time and it is not really broke in, but here is what I have experienced. First 1,000 miles I babied it per GM's recommendations and kept the speed under 55-60 and varied it a lot. Got 21-22 MPG at those low speeds. After that I saw about 18.5 empty at normal highway speeds. Hooked up the 15,500 toy hauler and went from NM to Quartzsite, Az.(560 miles). 1st tank was 9.8, 2nd was 10.5, but that was going off the Mogollon Rim which was mostly down hill. After unhooking, I am seeing about 18 again. These are hand figured numbers.

I know you are asking about new ones but here is my experience.
2004 3500 DRW (sold with 250k miles) with 6 speed manual and tuner. Empty, 22 mpg Hwy and ~13 with 15,000lb triple axle enclosed car trailer (11' high).
2016 (bough new) 3500 DRW with 6 speed Alison (70k miles). Empty average mid 18 mpg, with 40', 17,000lb toy hauler (total weight 25,500lbs) I get mid 8 mpg. Total life time average on the truck computer is 12.6mpg.
2014 Volvo 630 with 12 speed iShift (420k miles). 10 mpg empty highway. 8 mpg towing same toy hauler as above. Total combined weight of 42,000 lbs).

With a 2020 DRW, I can get 22 running down the highway empty if I don't drive like a jackass. Running on non-pass highways I can get 10-12 towing a 14k fully loaded flatbed with equipment. I get between 6.5 and 8.5 towing a big 20K lbs. fiver depending on speed and terrain. There's a big difference in the fiver towing 60-65 and 70-75.

On my truck I think the wind direction plays a huge part. Towing a 5th wheel with the wind the mpg number on my truck was 11.2 mpg. Not hand calculated but the lie-o-meter.
Against the wind the trucks display would be 9 mpg.
The worse would be going uphill, into the wind while the Regen is happening. All bets are off as to how low your MPG would be.
