Extensions for Atwood AB-72 King Pin box

I have an 87 HR and would like a few more inches of space to avoid hitting the cab. I currently come within 3-4" of it when turning.

Any suggestions?Click image for larger version

I haul a fifth wheel rv with a short box... I use a sliding hitch and don't have problems. But it will be harder on your half-ton suspension than it is on my truck so only use it in the lots or parks where you need a tight turn. Turn wide at road intersections when it's in travel mode as you already know.
I think that may be a cheaper solution than a new pin box.

how is the slider hard on your suspension? Curious because I'm running the Pullrite super glide 16k on my f250 super duty short box...is there anything I need to prepare for?

OP is using a half-ton, and slider puts the pin weight behind the axle, very temporarily of course. My HD doesn't notice it much, but a half-ton won't be happy about it for long.

I purchased one of these:

RV5 Extended Kingpin - Pop Up Hitch. E-trailer also has it (as does Amazon).

You can bolt it on, but I had my kingpin cut up/welded with it permanently. I spent $300 on the adapter and $200 on the welding. With that money I should have gotten an auto slider, but you live and you learn.

Anyway, thats an option and it works for me...mostly...but even with that I blew out my rear window pulling a quick u-turn, heh.

Cool King Pin Extender RV5

I am seriously considering the addition of an RV5 pinbox extender to my Raptor RP300MP toyhauler. Thus far, no one has indicated they actually experienced a problem from having done so. I called the manufacturer but only the got the typical response that no aftermarket or non-original equipment can be recommended. Not from an actual engineer but from the lady who answers the phone giving a textbook response. Jim
