Does it have a different transmission than the 10 speed Ford’s been using in the F-150 & Expedition for the last few years? I see up to about 210 under normal driving. While towing I see sustained temps up to about 225 and peaks of up to 235. Yes, it is a lot warmer than older transmissions, but it also uses a new transmission fluid designed for those higher temperatures.

You won't have any trasmission issues with that load. The truck is certified according to SAE J2807 standards to tow almost twice that without the transmission overheating.

I tow a smaller TH--180RT--that weighs in just about 4400# with the motorcycle in the garage. My '18 F150 SCab has the 3.5EB and Max Tow option. 10spd tranny runs about 208-212* towing at 65 MPH. Temps of 225-235* shouldn't be a problem with the new fluids these days. Lubrication has improved dramatically in both engine and trans oils. I would worry if I saw sustained temps of >255* and would prompt a fluid flush and change.

Even with a light trailer, I do find that locking out both 10th and 9th gear makes for less shifting up and down grades, and likely reduces trans temps.

Never had a problem with my '16's tranny but the 3.5 Ecoboost would overheat on a big grade with our 8000 lb trailer. I would have to slow down to 45.

I towed my 8200lb toyhauler with my 2016 2.7EB F-150 6 speed & 3:55 gears.
Engine temp ran as hot as 220 / tranny temp ran as hot as 212 on 100 degree Texas summer days. They usually ran cooler than that though... more like engine 206 / tranny 200.
I can't speak for my 2018 3.5EB F-150 as it's my toad not the tower but the tranny temp floats between 198 - 208 once warmed up.

I am thinking the 2.7 Eco-Boost has a fancy engine block like Compacted Graphite Cast Iron (CGI). I think that material disperses heat better than the more common Gray Cast Iron engine block.
