F250 or F150 with max tow package
I was looking at new trucks. Ford salesman told me that 2022 f150 with max tow package would tow better than f250 super duty. Just trying to figure out what direction to go, I'm sure it should be the f250 direction. Just trying to decide in case I upgrade trailer.

The salesman is wrong. Guessing he has more F150's on the lot than F250's.
Unless you get the Heavy Duty Payload Package then the F250 will have more CCC's than the F150.
F250's can be had with the 7.3 gas vs the 6.7 diesel.
For that 2670 Imagine you want the F250 gas or diesel.

That salesman is wrong - look at the wheelbase, frame, brakes, engine etc. What he meant to say is the F-150 would be better to get groceries.

^This!
I've been driving an F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost for 7 years now. Great truck. But when it comes to pulling (and controlling) a load in all situations, it simply cannot compete with my 1 ton dually.
Yes, there is that much difference in stability. Unless you are towing only minimal weights the F250 will be far superior.

Broke.....
The TT in your sig has a 8495 gvwr. The only F150 that would handle that size trailer if the F150HDPP with its 7850 gvwr and bigger 4800 rawr....good for approx 2400-2500 lb payloads.
Fords F150 "max tow" option does not tow the max size trailer.
The F150 "MAX TOW" option is basically a larger fuel tank/tranny cooler/trailer hook ups/elec locking diff/tranny and engine oil cooler/etc that has nothing to do with the trucks GVWR or rawr.
The max tow option can be had on just about any F150 with various gvwr/rawr packages...which is a very good option...but doesn't tow or carry the max load.
Example is a F150 6800 gvwr and 3800 rawr with the "max tow" option good for around 1400-1500 in the bed payload .....9k-10k lb tow rating. Depending on cab/drivetrain selections.
Being the F150HDPP is very hard to find I would opt for the F250 for that size trailer. Lots of F250 to choose from.

the eco-boost 3.5L is good for pulling BUT its still in a 150! No question the F250 is more stable and safer to pull a trailer with. the longer wheelbase and much heavier truck is the way to go without question. Long wheelbase F250 is what I would get for towing a 27' travel trailer . Load range E tires big brakes are all big plus for the job.

The salesman is lying or grossly misinformed. The worst combo of options you could buy for an F250 for towing is still twice as good as the best F150. Frame, brakes, suspension, axles, etc.etc. etc. Power is only one component of a tow vehicle and it's not the most important one either.
I was at my Ford dealer yesterday and there were at least 30 F150's for sale and one Superduty.....I'm thinking this is the most likely reason for his comment.

It is obvious....the salesman's lips were moving...therefore he was lying.

If you are buying a new truck and you plan to tow, always buy the truck that gives you the most towing options. Why limit yourself because the salesman wants to make a sale today? Just like the RV salesman that tells you your 1/2 ton can tow any trailer on his lot.

If you think you might need a 3/4 ton, go ahead and get the 1 ton...don't even think about a 1/2 ton.

My brother owns both pickups. His 250 smokes the 150. I keep bragging about my 150 with the max tow package, and silently have to agree with his analysis.
That 250 is an animal.
The wife asked me the other day why we don't have a 250. I said because ours is a toad and not a tow-er.
She said, "but I like the 250". She's a keeper for sure. And she likes to fish and hunt. Damn I got lucky for sure.

I towed my TT for years with a Dodge 1500 before upgrading to an F250. Yes, the Dodge was capable of towing it and I never really had a problem, but towing with the F250 is a MUCH more pleasurable experience! It's just a beast. It actually rides better towing than unloaded! Get the 250. You won't regret it.

My wife wants a new SUV. She decided all the SUVs (and more over, the crossover SUVs) look alike, she hated that. So, she decided she wanted a Wrangler.
Dang, twist my arm, guess we will get stuck with a Wrangler...she was surprised when I didn't argue with her.
Doesn't fish or hunt, but she can cook, as shown by at one time a 100 pound weight gain on me since we got married.

I have a 2017 F150 with the max tow package. (a miniscule 1609 pounds on the payload sticker)
I pull a 4800 pound deck boat. The 3.5 EcoBoost barely notices the load ... however the same can't be said for the suspension. It bucks noticeably over minor road imperfections.
5000 pounds is the most you can pull in an F150 without using a weight distribution hitch. This is what is probably causing the bucking. The 2017 F250 can pull 15000 pounds without using a WDH. It can also handle 1000 pounds more tongue weight.
If I had to do it over again I would have gotten at least an F250. With a F250 I could tow considerably more without a WDH and I could at least put a pallet of sod in the bed. The difference in price between the F250 and F150 would have been less than the charges to deliver the sod to my home were.
