F350 towing questions

Anyone one pulling a 40’ with Moreryde pin box, a 25K B & W companion hitch, in a 2022 Ford F-350 dually. What setting position did you use on the hitch?
Thanks

Set it up so that the Centerline of the pin is an inch or two forward of the rear axle centerline. Next, set height so that truck and trailer are level and you have 5 inches or more clearance between the bed and the RV.

Will depend on whether you have a 4x4 or 4x2. This is how I set my hitch height:

1. With the trailer on a firm and level surface and wheels secure extend front trailer lifting jacks, adjust as required to set trailer at or near level.
2. Measure from the ground to under the trailer's kingpin box skid plate (or lube plate if used). This will be the portion in contact with the 5th wheel's skid plate once coupled.
3. Measure from the ground to the surface of the pickup bed.
4. Subtract the measurement from Step 2 from Step 1. This value will be near the height requirement for the truck 5th wheel hitch.

How do you account for squat?

May take you an adjustment or two to get it dialed in just right, but my 40 footer which has 3400# of pin weight drops my 2019 F350 DRW to where the truck is essentially level. I measured the drop once from center of rear fender arch to the ground @ center line of rear axle, it’s been a while, but I seem to recall that was about 2-1/4” of squat.

Might be helpful as an assumption of where to start.

Happy trails,

That did not factor into the set up. However, my Ford F350 4x2 dually squatted 2 inches with my 16,600 lb 41 ft trailer so installed TorkLift Stable Load Suspension Upgrade for Upper Overload Springs to eliminate the squat. Biggest issue I found when going from a 4x4 to a 4x2 is the 4x2 sat considerably lower than my 4x4 so I had to double check the measurements to account for that on my new 4x2.

Talking

I have the 20k B & W hitch in my 2021 F350 DRW 4x4 truck. OEM puck system in the bed

I set the height to middle settings during initial setup. I set the hitch base uprights to the forward position since my truck is 8 foot bed.

On our Keystone FZ345 toyhauler the height was good and level.

We have a Grand Design 3450GK 5th wheel now. The ride height on it is level too.
