I have known two guys with hauler beds and both started as a C&C. One guy wanted the bigger fuel tank and one guy was towing heavy. One was a RAM 3500 C&C and the other was a F-550. Both trucks had a matching paint job to match the 5th wheel.

I had a F-450 pick-up and never thought about removing the box and installing a hauler bed. Oh, my truck and 5th wheel kinda matched but neither was repainted.

When I bought my rig I inquired about a hauler bed. I don’t recall the name of the company but they said they no longer replace factory beds with haulers because they can’t get the sensors to work and therefore are always throwing codes.

That makes some sense because on my truck I have the Ford 'Bliss' option that has radar in the tail lights. Also it has a lighting package that has a light on the tailgate.

My thought is you would want to start with a C&C truck so you don't have trouble with codes.
