Flying J RV Pump Lanes?

In the past with my previous 31' motorhome plus a toad I used these gas pump lanes a lot. Now that I have a 32' travel trailer being pulled by a 22' long gas truck will this fit in these lanes?

I guess you have to determine that on a case by case basis. I avoid Flying/J and Pilot as they do not sell top tier gas(ask an engine builder, yes, you want it).

Not seeing Murphy's, Sam's Club, or Kangaroo on the Jan '22 listing.
Thanks for the head's up. Have recently started using concentrated fuel system cleaner for the obvious reasons.

If you can't pull out, back out, but I've seen some long rigs fitting in there.

I've been in many Flying J RV lanes with a 36' gas Class A towing a car and now my current 27' Class A. There have been many styles of RV rigs at the pumps, including small Class B's, 45' diesel pushers, to travel trailers and large 5th wheels. I have found that no two Flying J's are alike. I try to preview the stations using Google Maps on satellite view. This gives me a bit of a warm and fuzzy feeling that I can exit ahead (hard to back up with a toad attached). Of course, it would be easier to back up with a travel trailer....unless there's someone behind you waiting for fuel.

Like Rockwood27 said about no 2 stations being alike,
I found one Flying J without the RV lanes.
The truck lanes were packed, and thought that I'd use the RV lanes, that weren't at this particular station.

I have the FJ RV Lanes list plus I check using Google maps for these to get an idea before I get there.

We don't all have the same comfort level with tight spaces. If a station looks questionable, go somewhere else. It's prudent to have enough fuel in reserve to be able to do that if necessary. Once when I was desperate for fuel I ended up at a busy convenience store with a canopy lower than my 13'5" air conditioner. Had to back out of that one.

How big of a deal is it to install an auxiliary fuel tank? I have a 36 gallon tank now.

Right now I am leaning toward taking some five gallon gas cans along to cut down my stops. I would pour them in my fuel tank at a rest area. This way I could make it from campground to campground and fill up at while at them.

Circa early 2000's, Flying J started advertising RV lanes. Great we said. When we found one, we pulled in with our 32' Class A with toad.

We were third in line. Then several behind us. Took forever!

We were gas and the pumps were slow even for gas standards. Took us over an hour to make it through the line. We never tried the RV lanes after that. We just did what everyone else above describes in choosing.

We just completed our 11th year of Winter travels from Ontario to Florida and back. We use Flying J whenever possible, and have never experienced any issue with maneuvering through their RV lanes. We see coaches much larger than ours do it with ease. If we can't find a Flying J and need to use a regular station we always scout it out before pulling in, "easy-in / easy-out" or keep looking.
You can also download Flying J's list of locations which show what services are available by location. Google maps, satellite view is a great way to plan ahead and visually inspect each location.

I had the 36-gal. tank on the Ram switched out to a 55-gal. in 2020 while on our on first trip to Arizona. It took them about 2 hours.

My first leg of the upcoming trip is 378 miles long. This will be a long day for me. Back with the DP I would only drive 3 to 4 hours a day max. This will be about 7 hours long. I am pretty sure I can go 250 to 300 miles on my 36 gallon tank. So I would need enough fuel for an addition 100+- miles. At 8 mpg I would need 12.5 gallons of fuel. I would most likely take four 5 gallon gas can with me. I have plenty of weight capacity to carry this and space in my truck.
