Ford dealer just sent a check for $12,188 to use.

I do not need a newer truck but wow, just thinking I might just look into this.

My truck does not have the 5th wheel prep package and thinking I might end up with a 5th wheel.

Also if I can get $12,188 off plus 0% interest for 72 months I am thinking that is a sweet deal. The down side is I do not want to spend 4 hours at the Ford dealer.
Also thinking they raise the prices to offset the check.

What do you guys think?

Of course it's a scam. They are sales people!

You are unlikely to get the full discount and the 0%. It is typically one or the other.

I had a dealer call me and offer $5000 more than I paid for my truck if I bought the 3500 Limited they had on the lot. I wasn't really interested as the Limited has a sunroof. I asked my sale guy about it and he said it probably was a ploy just to get me to come out and they would probably not follow through. I was wondering how they knew what I paid for my truck.

I bought a new Colorado Z71 Trail Runner for my wife a couple of months ago. Got over $10k off a $45K truck without any special checks or deals. I suspect you could get at least that $12+K off a new truck without the check, which I am sure only applies to the MSRP which nobody sells for.

With all the online inventory and shopping tools we spent less than 1 hour at the dealer and that included an 20+ minute test drive.

Some dealers try, so it's really 12k off without having to negotiate. Not having to negotiate is worth something, unless you're the sort that enjoys that sort of thing.

I think tomorrow I will drive the car and see if they have anything I would be interested in. A fancy metallic white F-350 7.3 with 5th wheel prep might peak my interest. It also says I can use the check on used vehicles. A white 2018/2019 F-250/350 gas truck with 5th wheel prep would peak my interest.

I take that back - any truck with 5th wheel prep would peak my interest.

Thinking, trade my truck, use the check and maybe get a 2020 for only 4 or 5 more grand. I would do that I think.

saddlesore has the best idea - give me a 20k check.

goodspike - agree kinda, when I bought this truck from this dealer they used the ole 'we are losing $$ on this deal'. I stopped negotiating with only 7k off.

It is the end of the month. That is a good time to buy.

I don't know if you're also just looking for an activity, but if not you could probably get at least their new inventory off the dealer website and avoid a trip.

If it's a check, cash it.

Of course we all know it is not a check.

It's amazing folks get caught up in this stuff. The price is the price, however you get there.

There is exactly one of these in dealer inventory within 250 miles of me.

I stopped going to/dealing with dealers 20 yrs ago

Negotiate/purchase on-line via fleet dealer
Strike a deal...vehicle delivered to local dealership.
They call and let me know vehicle is ready for pick-up
I go, inspect, pay and drive away

Simple......

Golly gee the normal walk in the door manufacturer/ dealer off on a 50-60 + grand truck is that. Itís a scam to make you believe you have cash in hand and motivate you to buy
Seems to be working doesnít it?

I actually like to walk the lot to see what is what. The trucks are usually unlocked do I will check out a few payloads on various trucks. I debated with my current truck do I buy a F-150 or F-250. I had a F-450 so I picked a F-250 to downsize to.

Anyway I have the time - I will start with the used trucks just to see if any have the 5th wheel prep package.

The bummer is my local Ford dealer is small but they are close.
