Golf Cart in Silverado Bed
So, I didn't plan this out perfect. We found a heck of a deal on an EZ GO cart that just needs batteries. We jumped on it, but it doesn't fit in the bed without the tailgate down. I should have gotten the long bed.
Are there any tricks to get it to fit above the tailgate so I can still take it camping and not tow a second trailer? I thought of building a deck in the truck bed that will bring it up another 1-1.5' which should clear the tailgate. Trying to stay safe doing this.

Neighbor , towed his Chevy 3/4, short box with a golf cart in it for three years with the tailgate down , he backed the cart in, with; box and tailgate length, 2 X 8 boards, under the tires, to put the weight, of the cart differential and batteries forward in the truck and reduce load on the tailgate.
EDIT: I thought this question was in the motor homes and toads section of the forums . If your towing a trailer with the truck as well as having the cart in the box ... remember how much payload that cart is taking of the back axle's rating.

You don't have enough info to know if your going to over load the rear axle with the golf cart and the tongue weight of the trailer .
1. You need the weight of the golf cart .
2.To load up your family and gear in the truck , fill it with fuel and get your axle weights and compare, those to the actual weights to the axle ratings .
Remember not all the payload capacity is at the rear axle where , with cart and tongue weight your going to need it.
The trailers loaded tongue weight could easily get into the 700+ lb range , then there is the receiver and WD bars that can add 100 bs.
Without the cart , you would be fine ; JMHO; carrying the cart and towing the trailer , I'm thinking the rear axle and rear tires are going to be overloaded.
If the truck is loaded to it's GVWR , with the cart , passengers and tongue weight , then the max trailer weight is 4,400 lbs. to stay under the GCWR.
Remember every pound of weight added in the truck has to be deducted from Max trailer tow capacity.

Welcome to the forum.
Our EZGo TxT weighs approx. 900>#
From your numbers, since you probably don't camp with an empty trailer would put your trailer tongue weight north of 700>#
We rent one of the U-haul motorcycle / ATV trailers to transport ours. It has a nice low, wide fold down ramp. and is long enough to close. It's cheap & safe.
Best of luck.

Yeah you would want to CAT scale it to make sure you are at minimum not excessively over your max drive axle weight. Airbags would be helpful. Also you would need a hitch extender so as to reach your trailer and allow room for your tailgate. This one is only rated to tow 5,000 pounds.

For loading motorcycles lawn mowers etc. I have two 7' ramps for easier loading and that attach to the bumper for safety. 6' ramps are too short in that a lot of stuff bottoms out trying to make the transition from ramp to bed. My 7' ramps fold up for easy storage.
Ideally this is where a 5th wheel camper is helpful as you can legally & safely tow another small trailer for the golf cart behind it. Or if you are camping locally possibly your wife could tow it on a utility trailer behind her car and just take two vehicles.

I built a platform at the front of my truck with some ramps so that the front of our RZR went up that and with it at an angle could get the tailgate almost closed but it was enough for clearance. The bonus was there was room under the platform to carry more stuff.
