When you order the factory fifth wheel prep from Ford, does the package include the goose ball or is that something you have to supply yourself? If it does not come with, where is the best place to purchase the goose ball and is there a certain size? I’m considering using the Andersen Ultimate Hitch.

Don't know if it comes with the ball or not, but there are a lot of options available. If it is a square receiver you can get a ball from B&W, but if it is the round one there are balls from Curt, PullRite, etc. I have the Curt because it came with my aftermarket Curt goose hitch.

The ball and chain clip set was a stand alone option when we ordered our 2020. I didn't look to see if it is still an option but I would think it is, if it is still available. It was an option on my previous Ford truck that I bought off the lot. I still have it and it is a Reese, identical to the one listed on the link above, with a Ford logo on the bag. I tried to use it with the Reese Goose Box we had installed on our Pinnacle but it only has a half inch rise on the shaft. I needed a taller ball and wound up with a Pullrite which sat an inch taller. I wanted the B&W but it is taller yet and wouldn't work for me.

I am not familiar with the Andersen but before you buy anything I would see if the height of the ball is a factor. I've used Etrailer for stuff like this.

If it is the round hole in the bed, Andersen has a special adapter for their ultimate that you can put in there and it is supposed to be extra secure. If you pull multiple trailers, the ball works just fine. If your truck doesn’t come with one, e-trailer will have what you need.

If you haven’t bought your hitch yet, search around for deals that include other accessories with the purchase of the hitch for no extra cost.
