Guess who got a new tow rig???

So, after much deliberation and searching we landed a 2001 Ford Excursion. V10 101,500 miles. LOADED minus dvd and moon roof. Which is fine. Im excited to park the 2000 F250 5.4 and keep the miles under 200k. Very excited to see how the V10 does over the 5.4.

Paid $8k which seems a little high at first but given the cleanliness and miles was cheaper than a comparable Excursion

Huh? An Excursion is cheaper than an Excursion?

Your gasser Excursion is a lot cheaper than a comparable 2001 7.3L PowerStroke Excursion with the same trim, condition and miles by several thousand dollars. Is that what you meant?

I meant not stepping up to a powerstroke other similar optioned excursions with the v10 were either double in mileage or 2k more expensive. I found one powerstroke for $13k but 200k miles and was rusty. Found one with the 6.0 but the lot wanted $16k and it wouldnt start! I think I found a good ride.

Agreed. And you'll love it if you don't get sticker shock the first time you fill that 44-gallon gas tank with premium for towing a heavy trailer over the mountain.

Great find with that mileage. What axle ratio does it have? Most were 3:73 but there are some 4:30's out there. I have a 2003 with 160K and runs and drives great. Tows our 31ft TT with no problem. There are some suspension upgrades you can do that will make a big difference if towing heavier loads. Click image for larger version

The best thing I ever did to my V10 was an SCT tuner with custom tunes from Mike at 5Star tuning. Made it a totally different truck for very short money. Congrats on the new truck....

Well, I just found out that the insurance company isnt going to total my focus.... so I have to sell the excursion already........ thats what I get for listening to them instead of waiting for the check. I feel so stupid.... so $8500 or $10,000 with a 3 year 36k mile warranty that covers engine, transmission, differentials, u joints, half off electrical and cooling system. It runs fantastically with good tires.... im located in cedar rapids iowa. Please if your interested contact me as I need to sell it quickly.......
