Cool - I bet you will really like that truck. The payload will be around 3,800 to 4,200lbs I bet.

Bring lots of gas money or make sure that credit card bill is paid off, I hear they're gas hogs.

That said, they appear to be very capable tow vehicles. I'm curious to see how they pan out a few years in. Have fun and a good road trip. I remember driving 30+ hours back from Texas with mine 8 years ago.

My thought:

7.3 gas engine equal gas hog.

10 speed automatic transmission - equal not a gas hog.

Agree after 10,000 miles you will need to let us know. Thanks.

I am expecting gas hog. Though I only get 9mpg towing in my old truck and an average of 16 to 17mpg when not towing. I expect similar towing mpg in this one (based on reviews) and worse average mpg. In terms of compromise, I won't mind paying at the pump for the GVWR I get out of it. I don't expect gas used to go up that dramatically from what I am accustomed to.

I was not going to get the truck for another few months, but a person showed up out of the blue and bought my 2003 Silverado for 8k. I kept it in great shape, so they got a good truck, but I have a trip planned in May and had to make the move sooner.

I did buy the Ford ESP product for 100k miles. The seller matched Flood Ford online pricing and had no issue doing so.
