Heavy payload 1/2 ton

So today for the first time I loaded the Ford F-150 up with some significant weight. I do have the max payload and max tow packages in my 2018 extended cab with the 8 foot bed and the 5.0L. Click image for larger version

With a payload limit of 2437 pounds I had the 8ft bed loaded with as much mulch I could get in it. I have no idea how much weight I had on her but it squatted enough to level the rear with the front . She handled it with no issues. Drove fine with no indication that she was overloaded. The front did not get light or had any weird responses. I’m happy with her performance.Click image for larger version

[emoji106] but that mulch makes my back hurt. The key now is to get it off the truck and onto the ground in the appropriate places.

That F-150 has a payload that I wish more 1/2 ton trucks had.

I agree. Yes 1/2 ton suspensions are soft for daily driver ride. It doesn't mean the truck can’t be worked. But take precaution. 2,208 pounds of tile plus 200 pounds of tools chains WDH & battery on the back cab floor of my Ram 1500. Bags aired up, load tires, It did ok. About 5 percent over combined axle. That was over 100,000 miles ago no ill effects ever found. If this was a regular event I would have an HD.

Considered a heavy half

People criticize the relatively low payload rating but my XD handled 3500lbs + of topsoil with ease. No airbags or other helpers and still 2 more inches to the bump stops. I think the loader operator was being a smart a$$ since I only asked for 1 yd and he dumped in almost two. It’s a good thing I was only a few miles from home.

Are you sure that’s 2 yards of top soil? That looks like the same amount I brought home, and I only bought 1. A yard is approximately 2 buckets full from a bobcat.

Yes it’s very close if not two. Just a few hours before I had got 1 yd from the same yard. The bed is full to the top side to side and back to front. Based on the bed dimensions it should carry 2 full yds.
