Whew, so if we both remember right. The 2011 Ran 2500 diesel does not use DEF. Glad you can collaborate that.
Mobjack - maybe a 2011 Ram diesel is in your future.
Fyi - the DEF was just a tiny hassle. I did not have any problem with the system on my Ford SD and I ran with 1 year old DEF fluid in the truck too. The truck sat for 3.5 months in the summer in Florida in storage (the triple whammy) It started right up per normal which was a pleasent surprise.

Ran def in an x5 for years hated it bc the reservoir was only a liter.
Would love a Cummins but so far all in my area are pre 2011 or are pricey or very hi mileage.

It was 125k. Drive it it was ragged out. There are several others in my area 04 and 05 ranging 100k to 140k.
My use is weekend towing 4-5 hours one way.

4 - 5 hours one way. You need to be comfortable.
Try a Ram 2500 gasser. I remember I liked it as well as the Ford when I looked at them back in 2011.
2009 Gasser would make a great tow vehicle. Do not get too discouraged.[emoji106]

I've had a few Dodges. My favorite was a 2001 Hemi. But 200k miles is a lot.

Mobjack22, buddy of mine here in NC has a 2001 RAM 2500 Cummins for sale, just realized that. 179K miles, asking $13,500 OBO. He's 2nd owner on the truck, just upgraded to a Dodge duelly so he doesn't need it anymore. It'll pull that RV of yours like a champ. Pre-DEF, all original.

Thanks. I know even less about diesel than gas.
What motor and gear ratio?

Drop, I dropped your friend a note via Facebook messaging since that is the only contact info he posted. Hope to hear from him. About a 4 hour drive for me but worth it if this is the right tv.

The '01 Ram had the 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel. Not sure what rear end it generally came with, but it was built to tow. He was pulling a 5th wheel with it, sad it was doing great. It surprised me when he picked up the duelly, knew he hadn't had any issues. Think he is already thinking about a larger 5er, and was planning ahead.
