2) Because of #1, you must move to the right lane if you are in the left lane and a faster vehicle comes up behind you. They said it did not matter if the speed limit is being exceeded, you must move over, even if you are also exceeding the speed limit. The faster car takes precedence.
OK, agreed. Can we also agree the bumholes need to start enforcing that law ?!

It's very true ! The left lane is for passing ! Slower traffic keeps to the right.

Old wives tale. Something my dad would say. Everyone seems to conflate slower traffic keeping right and passing on the right. Keeping right unless passing is the law in almost every state, but most have no rule at all about overtaking a vehicle in the lane to the left of you (Arkansas included). It's illegal here to stay in the left lane when being overtaken if you're going slower than the flow of traffic. However, if some bonehead comes up on you going 20 miles an hour faster than the flow of traffic, feel free to wave, but you aren't obligated to get out of their way (in my state. In Arkansas you must leave the left lane to let faster traffic pass, regardless of the flow of traffic). On the other hand, if some bonehead is not keeping up with the flow of traffic in the left lane, feel free to pass using a lane to the right of the leftmost lane. You aren't obligated to stay behind them (in both my state and in Arkansas).

So, "Passing on the right on a multi-lane highway is illegal" isn't anywhere near true.

LEOís have too much on their plates to target lane usage laws. Theyíre dealing with so much bogus stuff like claims of profiling etc etc. Many have turned in their guns and badges finding work where they are more appreciated.

I kind of chuckle about this "holding up traffic" discussion.

Have spent quite a bit of time on the Autobahns in Germany. EVERYONE drives in the right lane except to pass.

There are trucks chugging up the hills at 40 MPH and Porsches doing 140.

Back in the 1970's was hitchhiking from Munich to Vienna. MB 280 SE. Speedo sitting a little over 210 KM (130 MPH) in the right lane except to pass. Yes, we passed a lot of vehicles, but some passed us. No big deal as everyone was paying attention and following the rules. No idea what is going on today with cell phones and texting-- it does require concentration to drive with those speed deltas.

The downside of Autobahn speeds is that when there's an accident it is totally obliterating with car and body parts strewn all over the road. I have to say, though, that they're really good at cleaning up the mess and getting traffic rolling again.

In Germany, it IS illegal to pass on the right.

Yup, and that's where winking your lights come in.
But some of the yanks here don't know what that means.
And some of them think that's a reason to do a "brake check".

Absolutely! And, never, never saw passing on the right a single time.
