Rob - I had an 05 Newmar Mountain Aire 43’. At speeds above 64 MPH the coach just became less and less comfortable. More wind noise and things rattling around. It was always a two hands on the wheel drive to keep it centered. As speed increased so did the slight steering adjustments, making it a tiring experience. The first few trips I ran faster but realized it was more fatiguing and less enjoyable for vacation. We loved the coach for the 10 years we had it and running 62-64 was perfect. We put 50k miles on it!
The truck and 5th wheel go down the road almost like I’m just driving a modern pickup not towing anything. I HAVE to use cruise control to prevent going too fast as I cannot easily tell 5 MPH by feel. I am not fatigued after a long days like I was before the switch.
I do miss stopping in a rain storm and using the bathroom inside the coach though. Less fun getting wet.

Agree - that my dually truck towing a 5th wheel was a good way to travel. It was relaxed and I passed all motorhomes except the tag axle motorhomes. I would be towing about 72mph and a tag axle motorhome would blow my doors off. I bet some tag axle motorhomes passed me doing in the upper 70's mph.
So in my observation a modern dully truck towing a 5th wheel was better than any single axle motorhome. The tag axle motorhomes are the king of speed however.

Now that some good thinking... If everyone else is going faster why would you be pulled over ? Maybe for obstructing the flow of traffic ?

What is stupid? You should never obstruct the flow of traffic. That is asking for trouble . Semi truck drivers, you don't know if they have been driving all night or not. I for sure don't want be driving 55mph on the freeway and have one come up from behind in my lane doing 72mph. That can't be good.

The Arkansas State Police cover traffic laws on their Facebook page. A few years ago, they clarified this.
1) Passing on the right on a multi-lane highway is illegal (probably one of the laws that is most ignored, aside from speed limits)
2) Because of #1, you must move to the right lane if you are in the left lane and a faster vehicle comes up behind you. They said it did not matter if the speed limit is being exceeded, you must move over, even if you are also exceeding the speed limit. The faster car takes precedence.

The faster car takes precedent makes sense. There have been times when I am driving a car faster than the speed limit in the left lane and a BMW or Volkswagen comes up behind me I always move over and let them go. Sometimes I will try to follow them but usually they are going to fast to follow.
But that law makes sense to me.

I have a F-350 SuperCrew Diesel with a 32’ Eagle HT travel trailer. I can pretty much hold whatever speed I choose but generally drive the posted limit; never more that 100 km/h (60 mph). I live in Northern Ontario so 90 km/h (55 mph) most of the time.

When I was transporting RVs the company policy was 65 mph maximum period.
I've found that to be a pretty good speed. When planning and executing my trip I use 60 mph as my average speed and drive 65 mph unless posted limit is lower. I can easily calculate my arrival time this way with accuracy of just a few minutes either way. Using this method I determine what time I want to arrive at the destination and adjust my departure time accordingly.
I prefer driving at night - especially through high traffic cities - so for our most common destinations (9 to 11 hours away) we generally pull out at 3 AM and arrive around noonish.

Still a double nickle driver here, both because of the sharp fuel economy drop off for me past that point and because the power plant isn't that huge. I camp the right lane unless I'm passing through areas with alot of exits, then I'll go one to the left of right if there's three lanes or more to allow for vehicles to merge in and out without having to slow down and accelerate as much.
On the blue highways, I usually pull over as often as reasonably possible to let folks pass as long as its not in such a place where my stopping and then starting again from that point will not create an even greater backup due to the loss of momentum.

That’s nowhere near true. They were either having fun or you misinterpreted what they said.

Highway Speed
Texas is changing or has changed the signs from “slower traffic keep right” to “left lane for passing only” so it’s less confusing to hard headed people who insist on blocking the left lane if they are going the speed limit or faster. And it’s usually followed by a sign that says “state law obey traffic signs” or something like that.
Yes, the law is, move over so the guy behind you can pass, no matter what your speed is, if you are not passing someone.
I watched a police cruiser in Houston escort a car that was blocking the left lane across 3 lanes of traffic to the right lane then turned off his lights and went on his way.

Sounds right to me.
“Slower traffic keep right” means if the cars behind you want to pass you, move over to let them pass. No matter what your speed is. Unless you are in fact passing traffic to your right.
“Slower” means slower than the traffic behind you, not slower than the speed limit.
