This past weekend on our way back from texas to bama, across I-20 (will they ever fix it)
anyway for grins i got weighed at a Loves truck stop on a certified scale
steer axle 4620
Drive 7040
and trailer axle 12200
total road damaging weight of 23860
well within my parameters for the truck, I didnt have time to get pin wt, but i speculate based on some earlier runs and spring flattening that we were bewteen 2000- 2500 on the pin
anyway, I had 1/3 water on board, empty galley , gray and black tanks
and was over wt on my axles by 200 lbs, so i drained off all fresh water which should have been around 20 gallons at 9 pounds a gallon is around 180 pounds i removed.
time to take the fiver on a weight reduction trip. my empty wt when we purchased her was 11200 with a gross of 13840
Or has anyone swapped 6k axles for 7k axles and tires? OR should I get a new fiver ?

I'd clean house before spending $$$ on modifications. Our inlaws had this issuue. They would carry a weed eater with them. Sometimes a rake and a shovel????

I'll second the "Clean House" Comment When we first set up our 5er we hit the scales at around 19800.... since we've been living in it (Building a house) I have to take it to the dump every 2 weeks to drop the Nasties ... we hit the Scales now at 23500 + - a few lbs... I know once we clean house a bit we should lighten the load conciderably.

Believe it or not the manufacter actually answered my email requests about weights and the like
I was 100% convinced prior to yesterday evening to go ahead with the swap to 7k's, this morning its changed
I am going to keep my 6ks and wheels and go up one notch on tires to give me a cushion when we run at highway speeds for extended durations at max load.
that aslo suggested moving stuff forward to increase my pin wt to to 25% of the gvwr which moves us to 3400 lbs on the pin,
my wife cleaned out a few magazine racks and extra phone books, duplicate maps, old atlas, 20-30 extra cable tv cabels, videos we never watch, burned some we do to dvd, so i may be getting close to a better wt, aslo looking to ditch my heavy 27" tv to a flat screen model that is much lighter
any ideas on brand for maximum viewing and min. wt.???
