How Much Hitch Rise is Too Much?

Friends, ordered a TT with a 17" hitch height in March. New trailer is at dealer 160 miles away but they put an offroad package on it by mistake at the factory. Been offered that trailer at no additional cost, which is great.

HOWEVER the upgraded trailer has a 23" hitch height.........my tow vehicle (2017 Acura MDX AWD) has Class IV hitch that is 14.5" from ground to top inside edge of my receiver. THAT'S AN 8.5" RISE. (The trailer comes with Tuson Sway Control on it already so way bars are out of the question.) I will be traveling alone mostly and don't want to add any risk factors to being able to safely tow. I am well within towing capacity of tow vehicle...that's not the issue. The enormous rise is what worries me. I believe a $300 Gen Y hitch might fix the problem to make the connection level. Would you be concerned with the large rise between the TV and TT? Thank you!

8 inches isn't too bad to get the trailer level.
I had to put an 8" drop on mine to get level.
Just remember to use a hitch tightener on your receiver tube and don't go cheap.

I have to use a 9" rise to work with my 32" ball height. A good quality hitch is recommended as is a hitch clamp. Make sure the rear hatch/tailgate will still open or you'll have that to deal with.

Thank you Mike. Dealer sent me pics of actual trailer and hitch height is 19" not 23" (from brochure) so rise will be 5". Still recommend hitch tightener?
