I purchased a Husky Centerline weight distribution sway control with the 800-1200 lb bars. I am towing a 5080 lb empty Grand Design travel trailer (21’) with a 2021 Ford Ranger. Will this setup hurt anything on my rig as it is overkill with the 800-1200 lb bars

No. But it may contribute to a stiff jerky ride. Chances are that 5000lb UVW will be 6000lbs loaded. @12.5% optimum for tongue weight that puts you not quite at the bottom end of the WDH bars.
Being a Grand Design smaller TT I'm guessing the dry tongue weight is around 500lbs +/- 25 lbs.
Adding 300 lbs to the front of the TT will be a tough task.
Did you buy the WDH from the dealer or online. If possible can you exchange it for a lighter weight model?
From the replies it sounds like I-may have a stiffer ride but it will work out fine for the outfit. I bought the WD from a friend of mine. I will keep a look out for the next size down bars.

I have the same hitch and same bars towing 29' and 8000 with an F150.
