I知 impressed by 2021 F150 HDPP payload capacity

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/photos-of-2021-f-150-heavy-duty-payload-package-stickers.899/

This 2021 Supercrew F150 3.5EB HDPP has 2800 lbs payload capacity. This is only 200 lbs shy from my F250. I知 so impressed.

I would want a Lariat trim which I am guessing would bring the payload down to 2,400 or 2,500lbs. Still that is impressive.
2WD does not bother me as long as it has the ability to lock the rear axle which this truck can do. 3:73 gears with a rear locker[emoji106].

There are a few members on this forum that have this truck. I think they really like it.

I have been looking at the Nissan Titan XD which is another super beefed up half ton truck. It only has a payload of around 2,000lbs. But like the F-150 with HDPP it too has it's own longer wheelbase, 4,900lb rear axle capacity and thicker frame.

The Nissan lacks the power of the 3.5 Eco-Boost which is crazy powerful for MY 2021.

My 2017 F-250 6.2 2WD has 6,300lb rear axle and a payload of 3,497lbs. Oh, it is a Lariat with the Lariat Ultimate Package and in 2017 that package included the panoramic sunroof. That package no longer has the sunroof included.

Still a light truck. Problem with a light truck and a long heavy TT is the TT will still push the truck around. That truck would do well with a 5th wheel.

4800 RAWR on that sticker......

Very Light 5th wheel
10K 5vr with 20% pin...2000# on that rear axle
That would mean trucks rear axle could only weigh 1800 before adding pin weight from 5th wheel

150/1500....better suited for Travel Trailers vs 5th wheels

Payload is based on GBWR minus UVW and is total for Both Axles
Not putting 2800# in truck bed

Yeah the HDPP has the 4800 rawr and can weigh in the 2200-2300 lb range depending on truck configurations.
Doing the math says around 2500-2600 lbs in the bed is all the HDPP can carry before overloading the 4800 rawr.
The res=t of that 2800 lb gvwr payload will some how have to go to the trucks front axle.

I'm more impressed with a F250 6340 rawr that can safely carry in the 3300-3400 lbs in the bed before overloading.

I wanted an F150 with the HDPP but could not get the options I wanted so went with an F250 diesel. I only have 2400 payload capacity because of the diesel but I have the options I wanted. I am surprised ford does not build more f150's with HDPP. I do like the mpg with the diesel when towing though.

My F250 has fawr of 5600 lbs and rawr 6350 lbs. CAT scale says my front end weigh 4300 lbs, rear weigh 3200 lbs when my entire family and dog in the cab. That left me more than 4300 lbs weight capacity for both axle combined. But my ccc is only 2995 lbs and my family and dog weigh close to 400 lbs. Thats still a very big difference.

Most are very long wheelbase and people like sporty short bed truck until they tow something. You could致e get the F250 with HDPP option, called F350 SRW.

My 2014 F150 w/HDPP is a XLT Super Cab, 8' box and 163" WB. It has the 4800# rear axle, 4050# steer axle & 8200# GVWR and 2286# CCC. Also, a 3.73 Limited Slip rear axle.

I guess my CCC is low due to my 2014 being the last F150 made with steel.

I don't pull overly large trailers. Longest was 27' 1" and 6500# GVWR. But that long wheel base pulls really nice.

That 163" wheelbase is crazy long and what is needed to control the travel trailer. My F-250 on has a 159.8" wheelbase.
I bet that truck rides good with that long wheelbase plus is great at relaxing towing.

It does, indeed, ride well.

It's probably a little overkill with the length of trailer I pull now (24.5') but I'm used to it, and do like it.
