I much prefer the grille and trim on GMC vs Chevy pickups. I also prefer a mid to hgh level trim due to the stupid interior door handles on the lower grade trims and I dislike rubber/cheap carpets and seats and such.

LT trim is what have and it ticks all the boxes for me. I like the leather (it's not "real leather") as it lasts and cleans easy. Heated seats are a must if you have leather, I think it comes automatically with them. Seats on my 2011 are really comfortable to me, especially the height, lumbar and even foot pedal adjustments. I often drive 10 hr stretches on long trips.

IF you go for a used diesel, I'd make darn sure that thing was super well-maintained with OE or better oil and fuel filters. A lift pump would be a plus. I'd pass on unknown origins and maintenance.

Now is the worst time to buy new or used, prices and availability are ridiculous.

Heated seats are nice. COOLED seats are 10x nicer! Nothing better than no swamp-a$$ after 12 hours on the road

I don't know, but if the A/C is working fine and one still gets swamp-axx, then maybe they should consult their proctologist or something. Probably a worn seal down there.

My advice is find a good clean 2006 duel wheel truck that has been cared for right. Ask owners how often they use fuel additive, if they say every tank full keep asking questions , if they look at you why run away. Once the market on Truck settles down go find a brand new 2022/23 I have owned almost ever version of duramax trucks Gm produced since 2001 , the 2020 is so much more capable compared to the 2016 it replaced. The L5P and 10 speed have huge power numbers compared to 4 years older trucks.

You should be looking at one tons if you plan on towing a 5er.

Just to be clear on why we are saying you don't want a 3/4 rated truck for towing a 5th wheel. 22% of the trailer GVW is going to be your pin weight going right over the rear drive axle .

15000 lbs GVW trailer = 3300lbs plus your hitch , wife, kids and dog. Round it all off that 4200 lbs of pay load the truck needs to be rated for. Not one 3/4 ton truck is even close to that number. To have any reasonable safety margin you need a 3500 srw and honestly at 15000lbs you really need a duel wheel truck.
