The way that SpaceX is kicking ass in the space launch business, which is real rocket science, I suspect he'll kick just as much ass in the 1/2 ton truck market.
Just curious, how many other auto manufactures have ever had 500,000 advanced orders for a future model production? Ford sold 900,000 F150s in 2019 as the best selling light truck.

For the Tesla followers waiting for a cybertruck. Huge new Supercharger just opened on I5 between LA and San Francisco. 56 stalls and all V3. Restaurant, convenience store and lounge. All shaded by solar canopies. Good location for a break between the bigger centres.

If Elon wants to kick ass in small truck market, he'll need a better looking design. That "cyber truck" is the ugliest, most homely looking vehicle I have ever seen, with the possible exception of a Pontiac Aztec, which was obviously someones acid-trip design that they snuck through on a holiday when all of the exec. mgmt. was off golfing.

Heh heh. . Yah. It’s kind of “special”. But they have about 3/4 if a million reservations so they must be appealing to somebody. It’s highly functional with amazing lockable storage which is part of its appeal to the contractor crowd. That and it’s performance, stainless steel construction and chargeable at the shop or at home. It will be interesting to see if the first ones make it off the line this year yet.

As I understand the total Ford F series production in 2019 was just under 900,00 trucks. With 750,000 Cybertruck reservations (not sales) I'd say that's off to a great kick ass start.
Musk has already said that he can just design a new body and bolt it onto the same base if need be. I believe he long ago said that the Cybertruck was intended to be a F-150 killer. Not to directly compete with the heavier trucks, yet. With all of the advances he's made in both the auto and space industries it would be foolish to discredit his ideas.
As far as design, IMO there are many very ugly cars on the market today. Some look like they were assembled from a bucket of left over parts.

Leave my Cybertruck alone, it looks good just like it is. Bad to the bone, I have been driving Ford trucks since 1963 and can’t hardly wait for my new Cybertruck to get delivered to me.
