Looking at what options there are for low profile Fiver hitches for my new truck I have on order. I did some searches and came up with Reese 20K and 30K and a PullRite 25K. I am wanting to know if there is anyone out there with first hand experience with any other low profile hitches (normally used on a MDT or bigger) I have a regular Pullrite now in my Pick up that I like except for the poor quality of the paint job. Am I missing any? I have a TrailAir pinbox already on my fiver so I was not looking at air ride hitches at this time. Thanks

Yes Charlie there is a good one made by TrailerSaver! I am very pleased with mine. The total height is only 8 inches.

We have the 25K Pullrite low profile hitch and have been using it since 1999 when we started full timing. I had this installed because I didn't want the fifth wheel to be traveling nose up when towing.

I also liked the fact that the Pullrite hitch plate double swivels and has a nearly full proof method of connecting to the pin.

I was originally concerned about rail clearance with the low profile hitch but due to the low rail height of the Fontaine bed we ended up with 5" clearance between the bed rail and 5th Wheel overhang. Even maneuvering over rough terrain, the gap has never narrowed to less that 2".

We also added a Trail Air hitch to our hitch pin which helped the clearance in addition to the ride.

Thanks for the info. Tnance, thanks for the clarification, I had written the Trailer Saver off because I thought they only made air ride hitches. I know you have been on some trips with your new truck, does the TrailAir seem to do OK even with the heavier tow vehicle?

Yes, I am very satisfied with the TrailAir hitch. By the way my truck's rear suspension is a 23,000 lb Airliner for reference. My pin weight is 4,700 lbs. On our last trip, (two months- 7,400 miles) we never had to add air to the TrailAir bag. The trailer rides very smooth. The only time something is the trailer has moved was when I had to make an emergency stop. In the bedroom we leave many things on the open shelf.
In addition I think the Holland head on the hitch is the best hitch you can buy. It is the only way to go if you are going to be pulling a heavy trailer. It is rated up to 32,000 lbs.
