Mercedes diesel settlement

Anyone towing with a Mercedes 3.0 diesel Bluetech? Good news. You will get a check for $3200 plus a new emissions system with a ten year warranty.

We had a 2011 GL350, it was a great car. Only 1 real problem in the time we owned it and that was the def tank heater had to be replaced.

With all due respect, if you read the settlement notice carefully you'll see that payments to owners are very nebulously defined. The owners of some vehicles may receive payments if the required emission systems changes affect vehicle performance but I sure wouldn't sit around waiting for a check for $3200.

Thanks for the information as I am on the list for my GLK250. Emission problems are the only reason I can see for trading in the SUV. An extended warranty would really help.

this sounds like what Audi / VW did back in the fall of 2018. We got a check for keeping our car (no dealer buy back) . Audi at that time would re-flash the ECM with a program that didnt drive like it did from the factory , there was more turbo lag but if you didnt drive it stock you would never know the differance. After the reflash the car got 2 mpg less then before and used 3 time more DEF. the car still ran great , got 32+mpg from its 3.0L diesel motor and used roughly 3 gallons of DEF to go 7000 mile (stock it was a few Qts). after all that Audi sent us a check for $9K plus and we still like the car but desided to get a SUV and traded the A6 in for a Q7 10 months later. the check was to help with the depreciation in value , In my opinion the car was worth more because you couldn't fine one used.

We have a 2013 ML350 Bluetec as our TV. At 62,000 miles it had the dreaded DEF failure. In addition to significant repairs covered under warranty, the exhaust was flooded with DEF and had to be replaced. That was a $3200 cost that was not covered under warranty. We had to threaten to contact our state's AG for resolution, which softened MB's argument. In the end, we had to pay about half of the cost.

I am happy they are recognizing the issue.

We had an 2011 Audi A3 diesel. Bought used, drove it for 3 years, then Audi had to buy it back and paid us almost exactly what we paid for it. Keeping it was not an option. Audi could not resell it because it was pre DEF tank and no software update would fix it.

For what it's worth the Mercedes settlement agreement guarantees that there will be no loss in performance or fuel economy after the repairs are made.
