The loaded XLT without the sun roof was a better trim than a base Lariat IMHO. I was really surprised by how well you can option a XLT trim. This truck had the trailer back up knob, bliss, the fancy light package, tail gate step. And darn, I did not get a picture of it's option list.

But with the 3.5 eco-boost it was surprisingly smooth and fast.

I can remember in 2007 the new F-150 with the 5.4 litre triton engine and 4 speed made more noise than acceleration.

Those days are gone.

Of course my 302A was a 2016 and my 502A is a 2018. The 302A package really does give the most bang for the buck. Too bad there are very few on the lots these days... and the prices! Yikes!

I wonder how much, if any, the 302A and 502A packages have changed over the last few years. I know on the Lariat the Lariate Ultimate package changed to eliminate the panoramic sun roof. Not sure what else changed. As brand new features are available, like lane keep assist they might be added to said packages.

The 302a for '21/22 is a more fancy package than it was in '20...
But it's also about 2k more than the old model...

My 302a with the tech package has lane keeping and all of that nanny-monitoring stuff...
Sometimes it's handy, sometimes it annoying... (When towing in strong crosswinds, it confuses the constant steering inputs as 'Driver Fatigue' and tells you to take a nap)

The full Blue Cruise is available on the 302a, but I didn't get it ..
The lane keeping will give you 30seconds of 'Look-Ma! No Hands!' before it scolds you and tells you to hold the wheel... (In the meantime it keeps you centered in your lane, regardless of whether it's a curve or not)

I've tried to fool it into thinking I was holding on, but it's too smart...

We have lane keep assist on the car but my 2017 F-250 only has the panoramic sun roof, a nifty lighting package and BLISS. No lane keep assist on my 2017.

We have a few nanny features on the car. Asks if you are sleepy, drink coffee. Also lane keep assist sounds like it works the same. Let's you take your hands off the wheel for 10 - 15 seconds before it scolds you. It makes the steering wheel feel numb. Adaptive cruise works really well. Lol - never tested the emergency stop yet.

The problem I have with adaptive cruise, is that it follows much too close behind the vehicle in front of you. Yes it’s adjustable, but even on the furthest setting it is closer than I would normally follow someone.

What I find with adaptive cruise is the vehicle in front of me slows down and I am at ease and the car automatically slows down. Then I realize I am going 65 mph in a 70 mph zone. The adaptive cruise on our Nissan car at the furthest settings is about right.

Anyone have the emergency stop tested in real life? And did it work like advertising?

It's odd, however, my XLT high model (302a) has power-heated drive and pax seats, the centre console with the 14inch screen and the digital dashboard...
The only difference between it and a lariat is the leather upholstery.
(My wife isn't keen on leather, so we went cloth)

The CCC is 1975#...
It does have the 7100# gross weight option, which gives you a beefier rear axle...
Maybe that's 5he difference with the one you saw?
(There wasn't a sunroof on it, was there?)
I had ordered my 3.5 eco boost 22 XL F150 with both the trailer tow & heavy duty payload Pkg. I had ordered some specific options that I wanted but mainly wanted the truck for towing, this gave me a Payload rating 2476 and a GCWR of 19,500 and a 7850 GVW rating.

Makes sense that the unicorn was ordered because I have been walking dealer lots looking at trucks since 2007. I have never seen one on the lot. That has to be a towing beast.

For us it was never a question of buying a truck off the lot as this was going to be an order no matter what. I was on the fence between the 150 & 250 but there was things that we liked about the 150 so we stayed with that.

On a similar subject my 07 Tacoma that that I towed a 20 TT for 15 yrs is almost a unicorn as that was an order with a factory tow Pkg.
