Mobile Suites/ GMC Truck
My 2020 GMC Sierra won’t power up my new 2023 DRV Mobile Suites. No connection after harness is plugged in. Truck reads no trailer connected when harness is clearly plugged in. Hook up to another trailer and all is fine. Then hook a Ford truck to my trailer and lights work fine. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it ??

Hopefully it's as easy as replacing an under hood fuse. Congrats on the new rig.

Do you have an adapter between the trailer and the truck? The truck isn’t setup for LED lights and needs an adapter to trick it. If not, I’ll find what I’m using and post a link.

I had the same issue on my dump trailer. I made sure the trailer wiring was perfectly grounded and that eliminated the problem.

Make sure your fuse is ok and clean all connections. I had the same kinda thing on my Ford - cleaned everything and had the problem once ever two years as the connections became dirty. Hope it is that simple. Good luck.

I seem to recall someone saying GM 7 pin connectors don’t have keyed connections so possible to hook up 180 degrees off. I could be wrong though. Something to verify

I am with the adapter issue others have pointed out. The way voltage is applied through the 7-pin, this often effects rear view cameras, although mine has never had an issue.
GM connectors (and I presume all 7-pin) are keyed. I never had any issues with my 2015 Canyon nor my current 2020 Silverado.

Do you have disc brakes? Call Michael at Performance Trailer Brakes and talk with him. My understanding is weak but your truck sends out a signal to see if the trailer is there. With disc brakes there is no resistance, so the truck doesn't see the trailer. Michael can sell you a doohickey you add to the wiring and then the truck sees the trailer. Worked for me anyway.

under your spare tire there is a remote computer that controls your trailer plug lighting. it may need replaceing but try this.
go to trailer app on the truck radio home screen and click on the guest trailer and see if that makes a difference. If not this is a dealer only repair , they have to program it once its installed. My truck the parking lights are on at the trailer plug all the time , haven't found the time or the need to address it.
You could also try plugging the trailer in at the bumper and see if the in bed plug has a problem . Any chance the plug has dirt in it?
If the trailer has disk brakes you may need a CAM installed on the trailer so the truck computer see its connected to the the brake system.

Curious on the statements above, maybe there is a software update. I just bought a '23 Chevy 3500 and hooked up the electrical to my '21 GD toyhauler, which has LED lights and disc brakes. I did a lighting check, and it did everything that it was supposed to do. I am waiting on new legs for my hitch, so checking the brakes, using either the foot, or the manual, I can hear the pump on the brake hydraulic pump working.

My 2022 worked great for about 2500 miles then started to sporadically fail. Brakes would work then would quit then would come back. Had the dealer do a program update and they also replaced a module. The brakes faulted less often. Called Michael and added the resistor to the brakes and haven't had a fault since but have not taken an extensive trip yet.
