My friend just bought a FedEx like Van

I have a friend that has a food trailer that is heavy. He used to tow this food trailer to festivals with a 1999 F-350 Dually. He bought this Fedex like diesel van with 22.5" tires and air brakes. He does have a CDL.

Anyway I rode 30 miles in it yesterday. What a beast!!! It pulls the trailer great. He likes the way the van pulls vs the F350 dually. He told me the F-350 dually had the international 7.3 diesel non turbo. The van he tells me is the same engine but now turbo charged. Also he said the van has a GVW of 26,000lbs!!! Is that even possible I asked...he said, that is what he thinks. The van makes all kind of much that you have to talk extra loud while traveling 55mph. That is about as fast as this van wants to go.

Anyone have experience with these types of heavy duty Van's.

Again, 22.5" tires, diesel engine and air brakes. Reminds me if FedEx or UPS vans.

A 99 f350 would be a 7.3 powerstroke which are all direct injection turbo diesels. If its an 89 it would be the idi non turbo diesel. The idi was offered in early 94 with a turbo, the same year the psd came out as a 94.5. Another thing helping it would be the gearing if it tops out at 55. I do know that alot of those vans share components with the medium duty trucks like the f750.

How often and far will he be moving the food trailer?

The food trailer typically stays within a 50 mile radius.

I would agree that this thing shares things with MDT's. The 22.5" commercial tires are a good indication.

Gearing is low. 55 mph is a happy speed.
