New redesigned trucks - Wow

I was looking to buy a new 2018 F-150 eco-boost 3.5 or maybe 2.7 with 10 speed auto.

Now I am going to wait for the 2019 Chevy/GMC Silverado 1500. It will be 450 lbs. lighter in some cases buy using more High Strength Steel and a mix of materials like an Aluminum hood and doors. I am a big fan of the high strength steel. Also it is going to be bigger, longer and wider. It should be a really neat truck.

I may even downsize to a mid-sized truck. The Chevy Colorado and GMA Canyon are very nice little trucks. Now I hear Ford is bringing back the Ranger to the US market.

There are going to be some very good options that is for sure.

My understanding is the F150 diesel will only be offered in the higher trim levels. Not worth paying $60K+ for a 1/2 ton grocery getter to get a diesel.

Aluminum panels have been in use for a long time. My '05 Expedition had an aluminum hood, cost my insurance co $2700 before paint to replace it.

.
Jeep in the 1960's .. in steel and aluminum...
.MB gull wings in the 1950's aluminum...

still disappointed... poor aerodynamics...
engine efficiency
lower weight.
aerodynamics ,,, almost nothing.

possible 2020 the Ford Ranger might have a diesel... as the diesel version will be available overseas in 2019.

What???!!!GM is going to use aluminum? My gosh, they will have to retire all those Ford-bashing ads....
Last I saw in some industry flash notes was GM was considering carbon fiber instead of aluminum.

For the price of a new one I can buy a lot of fuel for the rubber tire'd shack..

Will have to keep my '87 F-250 standard cab, 8' box, 6.9 NA 13 letter manure spreader diesel, manual trans/manual transfer case & manual hubs... hell it still has manual wind up windows, manual bench seat & no AC, intermittent wipers or cruise control ...but it does have a am/fm/CD / cassette player....and only 147k on the clock....so all is good..

The F150 3.0 diesel isn't going to have an exhaust brake...that's a head scratcher!!
