Just read that GM is considering a HD Suburban...

Reading the article I wonder if it might be law enforcement/secret service use instead of hard military.

I had a friend with a 3/4 ton Suburban HD, so the public could get hold of them. My current truck says "Fleet" on the window sticker, that doesn't mean the public can't get them. He ended up giving it to a family member and he bought an Excursion with the 7.3 diesel.

Very limited audience.

If you need more weight capacity than a 1500 / half ton Suburban most would go with a dually & 5th wheel for better stability.

Had a Suburban or Escalade for past 20 years. Sometimes I regret giving it up as I could move huge amounts of stuff while transporting 6 adults in comfort.

I suspect it might be a real seller with a Duramax in it. It would do OK with the new 6.6L but the diesel would sell well I suspect.

I read recently that GM has never stopped making the 3/4 ton model with 8-lug wheels and HD axles. They just limited sales to fleets. I think that was an emissions restriction, but maybe something else. Anyway, they are out there, just not on the Chevy dealer lot. A new one with the modern Duramax would be an awesome family TV for the weekend trailer!
