I really wanted a 1500 to work for my new truck to pull a travel trailer and tried to talk myself into it as well as most of the camper salespersons. The math just didn't work for payload and safety was a huge factor too. Went with the Silverado 2500 6.6 Gas Custom. So far I love it! Old truck was an 06 Sierra with a 4.8 V8. Expect to be pulling a newer TT with GVW of 7500lb - 8500lb. Thanks for all the input. Thought this might help others that may be in the same situation I was in on making a new truck purchase decision. Price wise it was about the same as a 1500, yea I don't have a heated steering wheel or heated leather bucket seats but I'm not into that stuff. Keep it simple.

Please keep us posted on reliability, fuel consumption or any other issues. I am surveilling info on these 6.6 gas engines.

You never hear of any one saying they have too much truck

You will be much happier with the 2500

Youll be way better off with the heavier duty truck. As you just proved i see no reason to try and stay in a half ton, the price and size is way too similar to compromise.

I test drove a 2020 Chevy 2500 Custom truck with a 6.6 litre gas engine. These were the first trim levels to hit the dealerships around me. I really liked this truck. The features were good for the price.

What is the payload on your truck?

Nice job! That's a great truck that will safely pull just about any travel trailer out there with room to spare. New anything these days is just an incredible ride. Enjoy!
