Ordered mine in March. Finally got a VIN about a month ago and was told it would be built 18 September, that changed to 12 September and now 3 October. Changes about once a week. If it does get built before end of year, who knows how long it will take to get it here.

Well a little good news for me. They have averted the rail shutdown. I thought that would be the nail in the coffin for me getting my truck anytime soon. I keep looking for some 3500's already on a dealership's lot but unless it has most of what I want, I am not doing it. I just can't justify paying that much money & not getting what I want. I saw one that was a dually with a lot more on it than I want, & was going to inquire, until I seen it had the brown interior. Not to offend anybody, but I think that interior color is just plain ugly. Some must like it as they keep producing them.

Well, it hides mud and,um, other nasties pretty well.

I'm not a fan of brown interiors either, but they were popular some 40 years ago.

Per my previous posts, Since 12/22/21, I have been waiting for my 2022 Silverado 2500HD Custom CC LB 4x4 6.6 gas, that got reordered as an 2023, and still no idea when it will be built and if it will have the options I ordered.

My dealer called and informed me he had a truck that was ordered by another customer that backed out, if I was interested?

I went to look at it and it turned out to be a beautiful 2022 Red Hot 2500 CC LB 4x4 6.6 gas in the LT trim with the Z-71 off road package, sport package, fifth wheel, all star convenience package, totally loaded with all kinds of options. Way more than what I ordered.

The dealer felt sorry for my waiting about 8 mo. for an ordered truck that was no show, they made me a great deal for the upgrade, that I couldn't refuse, so I took it home.

My 2022 F150 took about 6 months.

Chip supplies are still an issue, but getting slightly better. No big improvements until sometime in 2024.

Samsung is going to start building UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 4.0 which uses less power and is faster than the 3.1 UFS.
They advertised 3rd quarter production. I know Apple uses fast chips and Samsung is competing with Apple. Intel also has faster chips that use less power. I have a 2017 truck and it takes awhile for it to boot up when I start it. I am thinking if you get the newest faster chips it will be worth it.

I've had a new '22 Chevy Colorado on order for just over 6 months. All I get with online chat is "your new vehicle build has been accepted but no production date available at this time".

I ordered a Ford F350 dually a few months ago.......December maybe?

A few months ago, early this calendar year, I ordered an F350 Ford dually and they said it would take several or many months. About two months ago I started getting emails from Ford and they say it is in their computer etc but delayed - dealer says maybe December to get it - maybe longer.

Hopefully it will have the faster chips to start up quicker?

But then it will have DEF on it too - first diesel I have had with DEF? Does Ford have issues with DEF - anyone know?

I drove a 2012 F-450 for almost 7 years with no issues with the emission system. DEF was a very minor inconvenience. I used the truck to tow a 5th wheel over winter to Florida so it did not spend any time in the bitter cold.

You will notice when the truck goes into a regen cycle as it is using fuel to burn soot off the DPF. (Diesel Particulate Filter).

All diesel vehicles now use DEF for 11 years now. You can ask Google or ask this forum if anyone is driving a 2011 truck has any problems.

I ordered a 2022 Chevy LTZ 3500 April 26th. Dealer had allocations and GM picked up the build within three weeks. It went into production July 18 and was ready to ship the second week of August. I picked it up September 3.

Well I would say that is a great dealer!!! They could have easily put that on the lot & gotten way more than the original MSRP or what they sold it to you for. That is a sharp looking truck!

I have two F-550s in my work fleet that use DEF. Not a lot of miles, but they have been in service for a year. I also have someone that I work with a lot has been using DEF in Fords since 2016, and has about 450,000 miles on them in that time. I speak with their maintenance scheduler, and they haven't had any issues.

One thing I have learned is that you need to use "fresh" DEF. Storing it is probably not a great idea.

I won't have an issue personally upgrading to a vehicle that uses DEF. I believe they have the issues worked out.
